If you are using a phone promo on the free line that requires a port in, you MUST complete the port in by end of day TODAY, March 23rd.

For anyone looking to buy a iPhone 8 for the trade-in requirement for Tmobile's iPhone 12, the following are the different sources ranked from best to worst. Keep in mind the phone carrier doesn't matter for the trade-in, so it can be unlocked, AT&T, Verizon, T-mobile, anything. Phone must not have water damage, cracked screen, anything that could be perceived as a cracked screen, password lock, or icloud lock. Small dents, scratches, screen burn, and weak batteries are okay.
Trademore - iPhone 8 starting at $159 [trademore.com] Folks in the Cricket iPhone SE thread been trading their iPhone SE's for $200 Paypal from Trademore, so we know they are legit. They are also the trade-in inspector one of the cell carriers (Verizon or AT&T), so doubt they will sell anything that doesn't pass inspection. They will probably be your safest bet to acquire a good quality trade-in. Shipping is included in the price. Swappa - iPhone 8 starting at $158 [swappa.com] Swappa's policy is no junk, so you are covered if you receive something you can't trade in. That said, since everyone is a third party, you get a wide variety of prices and conditions. I have received cracked screens before, but the seller took it back immediately. Still, this may cause you to lose this Tmobile promotion. Shipping is included in the price. Local (Craigslist, Offerup, etc) Your experience will vary, and the onus is on you to validate the phone is ready for trade-in. You might score with a great deal, or you might get ripped off. Only go this route if you know how to inspect phones or you need the phone the same day. eBay [ebay.com] You will have to read each listing very carefully, since there are listings for cracked, water damaged, icloud locked, or otherwise untradeable phones. Returns policies also vary by seller. Unless you score an amazing deal on ebay, Trademore or Swappa are safer options. |

TMO doesn't want people doing what you're wanting to do.
To accomplish it, you would need to:
1. Add free line.
2. Wait a year + one day.
3. Port out paid line to another carrier.
4. Keep paid line active on another carrier for 90 days (to preserve number).
5. Port old number back in on free line.
This whole process has taken you 1.25 years.
I have 2 of my free lines in a iPad and a Samsung S4 tablet, with UNLIMITED data.
You have to call them and tell them you want to use the line (promo line) in a tablet but don't want to lose the promotion and you don't want to open a new line for this.
What they did for me, was block the phone service on the line and kept the messaging and data. That way I am able to use it in my tablet.
Every summer my daughter comes and visit from Germany. I take one of the sim card out of my tablet and put it in her phone..
I call T-Mobile and have them unblock the phone service. That way, my daughter has a phone while she is here in country.
When she leaves I call them back and get it blocked again. I have been doing this for close to 5 years. So I know for a fact it works.
Tomorrow I will be calling to try and get another free line.. (Fingers Crossed)
Hope this helps

$830 credit if you trade in a iPhone 8, it must be a new line and must be a port-in line from a different carrier (att, verzion, etc).
Figured as much. I was looking at all the promos and didn't see one that didn't require a port in. Didn't know if I missed something.
1st step, you will need some form of a 20% discount promo which they call it a Hookup or F&F or whatever. Without the 20% code, you won't get it below $100.
2nd step, make sure you add your 2nd line in combination with a promo in the form of a "3rd line on us".
I have regular Magenta, pay $96 per month, 7 lines.
Line1: Paid (with autopay) = $70
Line2: Paid (with autopay) +$50 = $120 (apply Hookup/F&F 20% disc = $96/mo taxes all in)
Line3: Free (19 Dec 3rd Line On Us) +$0
Line4: Free 2020 LOU (June?)
Line5: Free 2020 LOU 2 (Sept)
Line6: Free 2020 LOU 3 (forgot)
Line7: Free 2020 LOU 4 (Dec)
Line8: This current promo - I think they may code it as 2021 LOU xx?. And, I haven't signed up just yet...
Line9: future date
Line10: future date
Line11: future date
Line12: Last one, max of 12 lines on regular Magenta.
The better part of playing this deal, is to "Stack" on top with Costco "trade-in" phone deal credits AND Costco cash cards for lines. When I did this, I ported in from AT&T and I stacked 3 "trade-ins" - old iPhone SE, iPhone 6s and iPhone 8 for 2 iPhone 11 Pros and a BYOD.
It's all about timing, and reading the fine print.
The people here are not bragging. It's just a difficult deal to play, and hard to explain it all in a few words....
I seee that those thta have many free lines started with very bad plan. not surprised they can take advantage of free lines cos the plan itself is not good like other plans.
The rep offered 4 lines unlimited everything with 10gb hotspot, free us canada mexico 4g, unlimited data test and data 4 lines for $120 tax included but i declined that offer. I am on tmobile one all in promo everyhting unlimited $100 a month and 3 lines.
I already have a few of the Ting sim cards I picked up from Target/Best Buy for $1 each. Currently sitting on one that is on activated on the Verizon network that is 10 days from being cancelled. Looks like it's coming to TMo.
i contact tforce and tmo twitter team and speka to US rep and their US supervisor but they tell me they can't do anything to me. I am 18 years customer.
Everyone is boasting, bragging about how many "free lines" they have added with these free add a line promo for existing customers but not saying what exactly their plan is or how much they are paying. Some say they have so far added 4 free lines with these promos. One guy said he now has 6 lines for $100. is this true?
In my situation, I am stuck with a grand fathered promo called TMO ONE ALL IN PROMO and it is 3 lines total for $100 including kickback, tax and fees. I am never eligible for any free add a line promo even after talking to supervisors and the only plan they can switch me to meganta max plan 4 lines for $180.
I have 11 lines with monthly bill 180 (including taxes). I do pay another $47 for the iPhones I have bought on DPP last year and another $7 for the Netflix (my plan is 4K UHD so I have pay the difference between the basic plan T-Mo gives and the 4K plan).
With today's addition of another free line (which I just did), my family is now officially full with 12 lines and the bill should stay the same i.e. 180/month (including taxes)!
I don't have any other crazy corporate discounts or hookup or any of that sort.
I started my family with 5 lines 2 Y ago and gradually kept adding more lines as and when there were promos like BOGO lines or Line on US etc.

And do You do realize that once the guy you replied to adds this promo, and one more line, even a paid line, and switches to magenta 9 line his monthly bill will be only $66 for all those 9 lines. . or $88 if he chooses to upgrade to Max an 40gb hotspot per line?
idon't know how much time you spend in mexico or canada. . .but for me last 10 years average only 2 days or s a year. i would rather bank $56 a month more and have the extra lines to save my folks $70 every month plus my single brother $56 a month.
Thanks,
For the port, I am pretty sure you can just get a Verizon number from eBay. I am not doing that this time, but I have done that in the past. No issues except that one seller took a few days.

I'm expecting that my price would remain the same ($128 for the 4 paid lines with the Insider discount) if I add a future free line as the 9th line. Is that not the case? Or is the pricing that different with the MAGENTA9 SOC?

I have been told twice by the T-Force people that FreedomPop is not eligible since it uses both AT&T and Sprint (which is T-Mo family) which makes it ineligible for port-in promo !
I have 2 FreedomPop #s so wanted to port those in !
