If you remove any paid lines within the first year, the free line loses the promo and becomes paid.

TMO doesn't want people doing what you're wanting to do.

To accomplish it, you would need to:

1. Add free line.
2. Wait a year + one day.
3. Port out paid line to another carrier.
4. Keep paid line active on another carrier for 90 days (to preserve number).
5. Port old number back in on free line.

This whole process has taken you 1.25 years.
My port-in was initiated during T439 promo period and completed today outside of the promo period. Without the port in (with only the added line and traded-in) I was on a bad promo. Once the port-in completed today, the system auto updated to T439 promo in my account --> promotions. Therefore, I don't think it was a requirement the port-ins must be completed by 3/24 EOB, just as long as they are initiated.
YES, you can use this sim in your iPad. I pay for 2 lines and have 3 free lines on promotion (5 lines total)
I have 2 of my free lines in a iPad and a Samsung S4 tablet, with UNLIMITED data.
You have to call them and tell them you want to use the line (promo line) in a tablet but don't want to lose the promotion and you don't want to open a new line for this.
What they did for me, was block the phone service on the line and kept the messaging and data. That way I am able to use it in my tablet.
Every summer my daughter comes and visit from Germany. I take one of the sim card out of my tablet and put it in her phone..
I call T-Mobile and have them unblock the phone service. That way, my daughter has a phone while she is here in country.
When she leaves I call them back and get it blocked again. I have been doing this for close to 5 years. So I know for a fact it works.
Tomorrow I will be calling to try and get another free line.. (Fingers Crossed)
Hope this helps

They have free lines from the many previous free line offers; they're not getting multiple free lines from this offer.

On reddit it only shows a bunch of codes, the average person can't interpret that.. I have the unlimited talk and text plan ($20), does that qualify?
You need to know your SOC (rate plan code). It would be easier if you called CS and clarified it.

You get one free line per promo period. But, this promo came thrice last year.

This is generally true for older plans that don't include taxes. Tax-included plans like ONE and magenta the lines are completely free.
I have their first plan that was "2 lines for $100.. This was before they included taxes in the $100 and free Netflix.. I tried multiple times to switch to a plan that included the taxes, but they said that if I change I would lose my free lines.. which was 2 promo lines at the time.. now I have 3 promo lines..

Currently at 8 lines with Magenta, two from the T-Mobile Costco $300 GC per line deal. Can I get a 9th line for free? I heard max for a family plan is 10 or 12 lines, so just wanted to check.

One more question: Am I able to change my paid line from the Costco deal to a watch line to keep that bogo line?
Same situation, just waiting for answer. Thanks!

Nope, only the voice lines get the promo.

no, if you close a line in the last 30 days you would need to reopen it before getting the free line

I use 2 free lines on 2 tablets and I get Unlimited LTE.. just tell them you want to use the free line in a tablet.. they just block the voice service on that line and it works in my tablet..
my free line is already unlimited everything.. So I get unlimited data on my tablet.. as long as they don't turn it into a tablet line it should work..

Opened new account at Costco last week with 2 paid lines and 1 free line. Am I eligible to add a 4th line for free? Magenta, FWIW.
Yes you can. It says that you can combine with previous free lines offer. In your case, you'd qualified.

I have the home internet which has been great the best few months. I just upgraded to the 5G box and they made it on new line and now I have two lines. I tried calling they said goto store. I went to store they said to call. They had the store on hold for over 30 min to cancel the extra line but I had to leave. What a pain.
