If you remove any paid lines within the first year, the free line loses the promo and becomes paid.

TMO doesn't want people doing what you're wanting to do.

To accomplish it, you would need to:

1. Add free line.
2. Wait a year + one day.
3. Port out paid line to another carrier.
4. Keep paid line active on another carrier for 90 days (to preserve number).
5. Port old number back in on free line.

This whole process has taken you 1.25 years.
My port-in was initiated during T439 promo period and completed today outside of the promo period. Without the port in (with only the added line and traded-in) I was on a bad promo. Once the port-in completed today, the system auto updated to T439 promo in my account --> promotions. Therefore, I don't think it was a requirement the port-ins must be completed by 3/24 EOB, just as long as they are initiated.
YES, you can use this sim in your iPad. I pay for 2 lines and have 3 free lines on promotion (5 lines total)
I have 2 of my free lines in a iPad and a Samsung S4 tablet, with UNLIMITED data.
You have to call them and tell them you want to use the line (promo line) in a tablet but don't want to lose the promotion and you don't want to open a new line for this.
What they did for me, was block the phone service on the line and kept the messaging and data. That way I am able to use it in my tablet.
Every summer my daughter comes and visit from Germany. I take one of the sim card out of my tablet and put it in her phone..
I call T-Mobile and have them unblock the phone service. That way, my daughter has a phone while she is here in country.
When she leaves I call them back and get it blocked again. I have been doing this for close to 5 years. So I know for a fact it works.
Tomorrow I will be calling to try and get another free line.. (Fingers Crossed)
Hope this helps

That requires a port in. For existing customers it's 50% off.

That's a horrible deal. Almost all grandfathered plan are bad. Best deals typically goes to those who are porting in from another carrier. They typically get hookup (20% discount) and free lines added over a period of time with unlimited data and no taxes and fees. I have helped my sister in law with her plan and already gotten her like 5 free lines in less than a year, so she's paying $120 for 7 lines already. Her plan still isn't as great since she was an existing T-Mobile customer so couldn't do hookup. This Magenta plan should've been around $96 including taxes. Some people have a way better deal. I left T-Mobile after more than 13 years because my select choice grandfather plan is horrendous. Plus I was tired of hearing their tier 2 support telling me my data speed sucks because of network congestion.
how do you get 20 percent off if switching over?

If you have 4 lines now, can you add a free line and cancel an existing line to end up paying for 3 lines with a 4th free? How long is the 4th line free?

Interesting. But is this T-Mobile biz (amplified) account or you actually get $30 corporate on MagPlus personal? Is it manual $30 credit or how is it labeled on your bill/account. You got a pretty sweet deal!
Personal

Pretty sure it's labeled as "Match Discount"

It was a process getting it done because TM made you go into the store showing your previous carriers bill with the discount etc

It took a few trips and a few phone calls to get it done correctly.

It's definitely a good deal but I've seen others with ridiculous deals with kickbacks and hook up's.

I used a freedompop sim from target and got a free number after activation. Freedompop works on AT&T network and can be used for port-in.
Hi! How long after activating on freedompop can you port the number? Pretty easy with them?

Thank you.

90 days, I had a watch line canceled and they said I need to reactivate the line in order for me to get a free line. I am working on getting this done as a watch line only costs $5/mon.

So cancelling a watch line will invalidate the free voice line?
I thought watch lines are not counted against voice lines - they are treated as data lines.
I haven't used my watch line in some time and was planning on cancelling it but may need to rethink that for now.

Did you port in a number? To qualify for the $830 credit on the iPhone 12, do we have to complete all 3 requirements?
1) Port in a number
2) Trade in a qualifying device
3) Add a new line
yes i did have to port in a number. i had another family member who was legitimately on verizon so we got the free line, are switching them from vzw to tmobile and trading in a iphone x to get the 830 discount.

No the watch line was not count as voice line. You might contact another reps, they can help you. Sometimes they just saw your cancellation line and said you are ineligible!!!!
