If you remove any paid lines within the first year, the free line loses the promo and becomes paid.

TMO doesn't want people doing what you're wanting to do.

To accomplish it, you would need to:

1. Add free line.
2. Wait a year + one day.
3. Port out paid line to another carrier.
4. Keep paid line active on another carrier for 90 days (to preserve number).
5. Port old number back in on free line.

This whole process has taken you 1.25 years.
My port-in was initiated during T439 promo period and completed today outside of the promo period. Without the port in (with only the added line and traded-in) I was on a bad promo. Once the port-in completed today, the system auto updated to T439 promo in my account --> promotions. Therefore, I don't think it was a requirement the port-ins must be completed by 3/24 EOB, just as long as they are initiated.
YES, you can use this sim in your iPad. I pay for 2 lines and have 3 free lines on promotion (5 lines total)
I have 2 of my free lines in a iPad and a Samsung S4 tablet, with UNLIMITED data.
You have to call them and tell them you want to use the line (promo line) in a tablet but don't want to lose the promotion and you don't want to open a new line for this.
What they did for me, was block the phone service on the line and kept the messaging and data. That way I am able to use it in my tablet.
Every summer my daughter comes and visit from Germany. I take one of the sim card out of my tablet and put it in her phone..
I call T-Mobile and have them unblock the phone service. That way, my daughter has a phone while she is here in country.
When she leaves I call them back and get it blocked again. I have been doing this for close to 5 years. So I know for a fact it works.
Tomorrow I will be calling to try and get another free line.. (Fingers Crossed)
Hope this helps

Why were they not able to add ? Did you try another rep ?
they said my credit history, and account history with t-mobile, only allows 8 lines overall. The rep first changed to 9-12 lines then tried to add the 9th line and the system didn't let her. she spoke to customer credit department and they said only 8 lines max for me. so she changed the account back to 8 lines but since Magenta now is not the same as the previous Magenta, the monthly bill increased. spoke to 5 reps including supervisors and all said the plans are the same, will get same bill amount as before, and to disregard what i see now...
this is not the same. any inputs from the experts here?

What promotion is this for that free phone?
Not sure the exact code, I asked the rep if I qualified for any free phones without port in and he listed a few phones, e.g. moto g play, k51, REVVL4, etc. REVVL4+ is the only one with snapdragon 600 series so I went with that.

Does that plan allow MI lines? I'm max 10 lines with NAFUTT4 with 4 MI lines. I'm looking to change to that for 12 lines max.
From what I know, you can have 12 Voice lines and 5 MI lines on this SOC.

Who'd you port from
I plan on porting a numberbarn number. The chat agent confirmed the number. I took screenshot just in case.

I did it over chat, and the line won't show up on my account until the phone ships. I will find out if the port-in works after I get my phone.

It looks like it just hasn't updated to reflect your autopay discount. Give it a day or 2 to update and you should see same price as before. When I switched plans it took a couple of days for all discounts to show up on my side even though the reps could see them on their end.

I'm on rate plan SCFUTT6 which maxes out on 10 voice lines so I cannot get any more lines unless I move to new plan because I don't want my bill going up. I currently have 4 free lines. How do I go about moving my paid lines to a free line. How does it work?

So I got a line added for "free" in a November/December promo in 2020. The taxes and fees for that line total $3.69 ($3.18 for T-mobile fees and charges + $0.51 government taxes and fees).

So really the line total for the year would be $44.28. There definitely is a cost associated with doing this. I'm debating whether to do this deal and pay that cost each month if I'm not utilizing it. My kids are 4 and 2 and anther one the way. We have no use or plans in the foreseeable future with free line we have now so I'm thinking may need to pass. Yes, T-mobile may stop doing this in the future and locking in a "free" line now would be good. But yeah.... guess take my chances not getting another now.
Thats because you are on simple choice plan like myself. The One plan is much higher so thats why it's inclusive
