If you remove any paid lines within the first year, the free line loses the promo and becomes paid.

TMO doesn't want people doing what you're wanting to do.

To accomplish it, you would need to:

1. Add free line.
2. Wait a year + one day.
3. Port out paid line to another carrier.
4. Keep paid line active on another carrier for 90 days (to preserve number).
5. Port old number back in on free line.

This whole process has taken you 1.25 years.
My port-in was initiated during T439 promo period and completed today outside of the promo period. Without the port in (with only the added line and traded-in) I was on a bad promo. Once the port-in completed today, the system auto updated to T439 promo in my account --> promotions. Therefore, I don't think it was a requirement the port-ins must be completed by 3/24 EOB, just as long as they are initiated.
YES, you can use this sim in your iPad. I pay for 2 lines and have 3 free lines on promotion (5 lines total)
I have 2 of my free lines in a iPad and a Samsung S4 tablet, with UNLIMITED data.
You have to call them and tell them you want to use the line (promo line) in a tablet but don't want to lose the promotion and you don't want to open a new line for this.
What they did for me, was block the phone service on the line and kept the messaging and data. That way I am able to use it in my tablet.
Every summer my daughter comes and visit from Germany. I take one of the sim card out of my tablet and put it in her phone..
I call T-Mobile and have them unblock the phone service. That way, my daughter has a phone while she is here in country.
When she leaves I call them back and get it blocked again. I have been doing this for close to 5 years. So I know for a fact it works.
Tomorrow I will be calling to try and get another free line.. (Fingers Crossed)
Hope this helps

I added 2 lines for the rebate and that was it. So if I add a third line, is it free and if I add a fourth line, is that free as well?

I agree with that. I did google voice and I think it will work and my promo is accepted as of yesterday but in hindsight and if I would have read the whole OP on Reddit I would not have chanced it over a few bucks. I do think it went through though

I added my line exactly two days ago and ordered iPhone 12 today. According to the rep I talked to, you need to do everything in within 14 days. You might want to try a different rep. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can also do it online by (1) picking the phone you want and (2) choose the phone as an "upgrade" and select "the new line" you just added as the line to apply the upgrade to (<= this part is important). (3) You also need to do the port in to the new line, which you need to call and make a request (or maybe through a chat).

I was able to add the 9th line today and I see now my SOC changed to MGNTA9 . Did it through twitter chat. Will add the iphone 12 for free after bill credits (after trade and port in)
Lucky you! they said i wasn't allowed to add more lines because the account is limited to 8 lines max. They changed my SOC from mgnta2 to mgnta9 and then change back to mgnta2. the bill was $16 higher and a higher up had to go in to fix, then wait for the system to take effect. Wait 1-2 billing cycle LMAO

Can anyone confirm that Number Barn port in is not eligible for the free iPhone SE? I ported in my number yesterday to get the free line and SE but now hearing that the system will drop the port from NB.
