If you remove any paid lines within the first year, the free line loses the promo and becomes paid.

TMO doesn't want people doing what you're wanting to do.

To accomplish it, you would need to:

1. Add free line.
2. Wait a year + one day.
3. Port out paid line to another carrier.
4. Keep paid line active on another carrier for 90 days (to preserve number).
5. Port old number back in on free line.

This whole process has taken you 1.25 years.
My port-in was initiated during T439 promo period and completed today outside of the promo period. Without the port in (with only the added line and traded-in) I was on a bad promo. Once the port-in completed today, the system auto updated to T439 promo in my account --> promotions. Therefore, I don't think it was a requirement the port-ins must be completed by 3/24 EOB, just as long as they are initiated.
YES, you can use this sim in your iPad. I pay for 2 lines and have 3 free lines on promotion (5 lines total)
I have 2 of my free lines in a iPad and a Samsung S4 tablet, with UNLIMITED data.
You have to call them and tell them you want to use the line (promo line) in a tablet but don't want to lose the promotion and you don't want to open a new line for this.
What they did for me, was block the phone service on the line and kept the messaging and data. That way I am able to use it in my tablet.
Every summer my daughter comes and visit from Germany. I take one of the sim card out of my tablet and put it in her phone..
I call T-Mobile and have them unblock the phone service. That way, my daughter has a phone while she is here in country.
When she leaves I call them back and get it blocked again. I have been doing this for close to 5 years. So I know for a fact it works.
Tomorrow I will be calling to try and get another free line.. (Fingers Crossed)
Hope this helps

You'd better to port in a number. The promotion will be applied by the system. I guess system will check all rules (AAL, port in number and trade in). If not all rules are met, system may not apply the promotion.

i set up google voice number and i got the number but it doesnt work to port for new phone promo wiht tmobile, everytime i give this number the rep says and i get a text saying account number is invalid. The tmobile rep asks for the number to port out, account number and pin number. I only have the google voice number not account or pin number. Someone told me the GVN is the account number but the tmobiel rep says it is showing invalid and doesn't match. i have created two different GVM and none work to port out ! pls help
I don't know if GV will satisfy port-in requirement for phone promos for this deal, but in the previous promos, when GV was allowed by T-mobile for port-in, I have ported-in GV numbers.

Once you unlock GV from the link by paying $3, and you set the pin for voicemail in the google legacy settings you are set.

GV account number: same as GV phone number
Pin: same as pin for GV Voicemail.

I wouldn't risk losing $830 on Iphone by using GV number for port-in. Find an alternate way/method to port-in.

There is another alternate method:
Pick up a freedompop or H2O sim from target which should cost around $4-$5. Activate freedompop sim on a free plan on their website and this will give you a free number. You can then chat with the rep on their website and ask them for account number and pin number. They will either give it to you on chat or message/text you the info on your freedompop number. All you need is a freedompop sim (from target or other stores), a phone temporarily to activate the sim and chatting with rep.

I second that. The system does not discriminate.

I m currently in Magenta plan with 2 paid lines n 1 free line.

Can I avail this offer? Also do i need to port a number or just request for a new number?

I plan on adding a line only. No phone purchase or other promos.

But i only get 830 if i buy 2 and no trade-in. My current phones will sell ok and i will net the iphones around BOGO price. most tradein offers also come around that price. And i actually need 2 phones.

They automatically assign you a number when you add a line based on your address.

If you want to port in a number, you can call them and have them change the number, but it's not required.

If you get a free line, you can also get a free Android phone (i.e. Moto G Play) if you want.

Or, you get 50% off on iPhone SE and get it for $200, or free if you port in.

1. This is the first time it is stated specifically.
2 Many people here have use Google voice port no problem, even recently
So there is a pattern that it works. We may be singing a different tune if there is widespread denial Google voice port after this going. Until then many will chance it.
3 People have hard time finding porting number from eBay.

What is the best way to do this online/call/store?
Tried it online, but don't see if the promo is getting applied and also it says 30 due today. Is that the right way to do it?
