So I just came back from T-Mobile store and he said the line won't be free as I have 11 lines - I am on TIULFM9 - he said is order for it to be free it would be 11 lines or fewer - since this will be my 12th line it won't be free

I'm not a business customer

I guess I'm glad he checked but not sure if someone else mentioned it here

what condition does the phone need to be in when you do these trade in offers?
Is it something like, as long as you can turn it on?
Or does the screen and the body of the phone need not have cracks?
Needs to work and look decent

The plan is good up to 12 lines. You should be able to add the free line. Check with TEM or T-force. They will verify that.

Thank you but for me it still not done. Did you specify freedompop or ATT? in system its showing as ATT i mentioned freedompop but they saying not an issue..Till no no luck with porting not sure if its because of weekend.
That could be the issue (weekend). I remember them mentioning that T-Mobile had to call FreedomPop manually for the transfer. I mentioned to them that it was from FreedomPop. In fact, I used FreedomPop for myself and my friend's account - 2 port-ins for 2 accounts at 2 separate times. Both went through after a few hours. This was done during weekdays though.

Hey - which offer requires iPhone 8 trade-in. I couldn't find on TM website. Mind sharing link for the offer and a device?
Quote from ouloat :
For anyone looking to buy a iPhone 8 for the trade-in requirement for Tmobile's iPhone 12, the following are the different sources ranked from best to worst. Keep in mind the phone carrier doesn't matter for the trade-in, so it can be unlocked, AT&T, Verizon, T-mobile, anything. Phone must not have water damage, cracked screen, anything that could be perceived as a cracked screen, password lock, or icloud lock. Small dents, scratches, screen burn, and weak batteries are okay.

Trademore - iPhone 8 starting at $159 [trademore.com]
Folks in the Cricket iPhone SE thread been trading their iPhone SE's for $200 Paypal from Trademore, so we know they are legit. They are also the trade-in inspector one of the cell carriers (Verizon or AT&T), so doubt they will sell anything that doesn't pass inspection. They will probably be your safest bet to acquire a good quality trade-in. Shipping is included in the price.

Swappa - iPhone 8 starting at $158 [swappa.com]
Swappa's policy is no junk, so you are covered if you receive something you can't trade in. That said, since everyone is a third party, you get a wide variety of prices and conditions. I have received cracked screens before, but the seller took it back immediately. Still, this may cause you to lose this Tmobile promotion. Shipping is included in the price.

Local (Craigslist, Offerup, etc)
Your experience will vary, and the onus is on you to validate the phone is ready for trade-in. You might score with a great deal, or you might get ripped off. Only go this route if you know how to inspect phones or you need the phone the same day.

eBay [ebay.com]
You will have to read each listing very carefully, since there are listings for cracked, water damaged, icloud locked, or otherwise untradeable phones. Returns policies also vary by seller. Unless you score an amazing deal on ebay, Trademore or Swappa are safer options.

scratches no problem, but cracks no no, also they check water damage from the charging port, screen burn OK, this is from my own experience and others.

The A71 has $400 trade-in value. Something to consider if you're going to get a new phone anytime soon. It's basically a $250 (after tax) moneymaker.
True, I have an A71, and like it. So, will get one for a backup or possible trade in, thanks

My Simple Choice is capped at 5 lines. Anyone figure out a way to add 6th line? Looks like this free line won't work for us unless we switch to new plan.
Quote from saghey :
You should check one of the posts above to verify your max lines. I have a simple choice plan and have 8 lines. 4 paid 4 free.
Same here. I have Simple Choice with 8 lines, 5 paid voice lines, the other 3 free - 2 watches and 1 tablet.

My experience for porting from freedompop was bad. 1. It is treated as landline. 2. They set a date to start the porting, which was days later. At the end, it finished, but lots of efforts. I did it, just because I really like that number.

I have not received the sim card, but I could see my account increased by about $10. Is this normal?

Through the T-Mobile App. You just select change plan, and then you will see on the left your current plan - Magenta 1.0 and on the right Magenta. You should see the same monthly price for both. If that's the case then select to change - may need to confirm on a second page or you may just get the confirmation page. Hope it helps
