Then again, I intend to cut each of these cables in half to expose the wires for easier soldering to the ribbons, since these cost less than buying the 3.5mm leads and wire alone.

I always thought that 3.5mm aux cables are all the same until i bought a similar set like these. The wire is too thin that it cant transfer the signal properly. You still lose sound.
