Alright folks, as requested I created a video with a step-by-step to replace the front fan and repaste the RTX 3080 GPU. The temps in my machine decreased from 110 degree memory junction down to 76 degrees following these relatively simple mods. Not too bad.

I'm not a youtuber, simply created this video for your benefit to maximize the performance of the unit. Here is a link:
https://youtu.be/YklybEdoKIM
"Dell Aurora R12 RTX 3080 Repaste and Fan optimization - Easy 30 degree temp difference fix!"

Enjoy.
You and everyone else. Everyone coming to slickdeals and posting these 3080 deals from dell don't understand that they will not actually ship.

I've done it twice now. Both times they delayed my shipment every month. My first order took 5 months of delays before they finally cancelled and gave me a crappy 10% coupon that expires in June. Everyone on reddit knows not to bother posting these dell builds because dell doesn't ship. They simply take your payment information, add you to their mailer list, sell your information to other companies, cancel your order and enjoy the profits of their farmed mailer list of people who want the latest technology.

Dell is trash tier right now, hell I'd even trust Newegg over Dell when it comes to 3080 products, and that's embarrassing to say.

https://www.ign.com/articles/dell...-hot-price <- IGN did an article on this already. It was full of $1500 3080 builds and links.

Trust me, these guys aren't shipping. Feel free to reply here with a picture of it actually arriving if you think you can prove me wrong.

Isn't anyone even a little concerned that the made-for-Dell 3080 is smaller than normal and the case is small preventing good ventilation? Also, the cooling is air cool and not water cool? I also heard that it's harder to upgrade components in Dell; do you need to solder things off like RAM or SSD?

Dell got $100 off per R12 if you use Dell's financing which stacks with the 10% off email sign up coupon for ~$250 off / unit. You can split the Dell financing payment with your cashback/rewards credit card so that you get your CC points or w/e. If you're lucky you can ship somewhere without sales tax. $1,762.99 per unit.

The 10% off is for up to 3 units is you get a unique, one-time use coupon code about 1 hour after signing up an account for promotional emails. "Sign up for Dell emails to stay in the know about the latest products and hottest deals on Dell.com. New subscribers receive a coupon for 10% off select PCs and Dell electronics." https://www.dell.com/en-us/lp/dell-coupons-codes

The $100 off per unit on the R12 is "Save $100 when you finance^" at the bottom of the R12 thing. It does for up to 5. https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/d...ops?~ck=bt

Well this was not a bad deal. I had $100 from systems I purchased earlier this month that I completely forgot about. Guess I found another good reason to buy XD.

So 100 additional + 200 off from 10% + 100 from my saved purchases = $1885 rouhgly including tax. Not bad especialy with high tax CA XD. Still kind of expensive to my tastes, but better than what I expected.

Oh also, you can up the ram instead of the cpu. For me I didn't need such a strong CPU and prefer not having to buy non oem ram in case of warranty issues. So instead of upping CPU to i7 you can do 16gb of ram.

Hmmm on the R12 you can add a 6800 xt without the necessity of adding the more expensive power supply unlike the rtx 3080. The two cards appear to have equivalent gaming performance according to Tom's Hardware. It's like $450 less. Maybe worth it to save the money for some. IDK. https://www.tomshardware.com/revi...,4380.html

If you look at values and know about mining, the RTX 3080 is a much more superior card. It warrants the $450 extra cost. Plus the bigger the cost the bigger the discount with a 10% coupon. The 6800 is relatively much better than the 6800XT because of the energy usage for mining apparently too. So maybe that was the one to buy.

Also I thought the difference was less. Shows $340 difference in price currently.

Thanks OP. I went through chat to get a customized quote for cheaper than this price. Managed to get:

R12 exact specs stated in this post (i7-11th, 3080, 8GB, etc.)
Complimentary 2 years Dell Premier Warranty FREE ($120 value)
$100 off for Dell financing

Total $1815 + tax = $1978 - $100 financing = $1878 shipped.

Planning to sell the 3080 for $1800 and use my 1080 TI instead. PC for $78, wow.

Screenshot attached.

Yes it is better deal on market values right now for rtx 3080 than 6800 xt, and 3080 is better for mining. This is also why I buy the 3080. The site lets you add a 6800 xt without adding the 1000w PSU. So, it is $450 less subtotal, probably ~$410 less effectively because of the coupon percentage discount difference. If someone just wanted the gaming utility and didnt care about mining or secondary market, then it may be better.
