Alright folks, as requested I created a video with a step-by-step to replace the front fan and repaste the RTX 3080 GPU. The temps in my machine decreased from 110 degree memory junction down to 76 degrees following these relatively simple mods. Not too bad.

I'm not a youtuber, simply created this video for your benefit to maximize the performance of the unit. Here is a link:
https://youtu.be/YklybEdoKIM
"Dell Aurora R12 RTX 3080 Repaste and Fan optimization - Easy 30 degree temp difference fix!"

Enjoy.
You and everyone else. Everyone coming to slickdeals and posting these 3080 deals from dell don't understand that they will not actually ship.

I've done it twice now. Both times they delayed my shipment every month. My first order took 5 months of delays before they finally cancelled and gave me a crappy 10% coupon that expires in June. Everyone on reddit knows not to bother posting these dell builds because dell doesn't ship. They simply take your payment information, add you to their mailer list, sell your information to other companies, cancel your order and enjoy the profits of their farmed mailer list of people who want the latest technology.

Dell is trash tier right now, hell I'd even trust Newegg over Dell when it comes to 3080 products, and that's embarrassing to say.

https://www.ign.com/articles/dell...-hot-price <- IGN did an article on this already. It was full of $1500 3080 builds and links.

Trust me, these guys aren't shipping. Feel free to reply here with a picture of it actually arriving if you think you can prove me wrong.

Dell is rolling out 11th gen Rocket Lake but the launch date is the 30th. Confused. People are desperate for a GPU with more money than sense.

I bought a 3080 and two 3070's all delivered before due date. If you want to mine on the 3080 it gets really hot.
The junction temps hover around 106. I opened the card and applied thermal paste. Now the temps are around 86. But I'm surprised with the 3070's. The 3070's stay really cool hovering around 40. Change the fans immediately they get crazzzzy loud like a rocket blasting off.
Was there thermal paste to begin with?

you sure? The build site shows it at faster speed!? 2.5/4.9Hz vs. 3.6/5Hz
The debate of K vs non K in OEM's is honestly extremely thin. If you look over the years most benchmark differences are from 0% to 3%. When your chip is operating during most gaming sessions you might see a few more fps and by few I mean 3 to 5 in most scenarios. Your money is much better spend on a SSD or more memory aftermarket instead of throwing 100 bucks for a extremely tiny benefit.

Thanks it looked more significant on paper (ok webpage) when seeing the comparison chart(s) on the review sites. in flight simulator that is likely a 10% bump in FPS... not so nominal and well worth paying for, given already would have a good SSD and 32GB RAM.

Looks like a big 1.1Hz improvement until the turbo line which shows .2Hz bump. Interestingly it draws almost twice the Watts to run?

can anyone confirm you can actually change multiplier/voltage on dell's board? I asked their support and were adamant that you could, but I don't believe them.

That's a cool story. Sadly, there's still no end in sight for things to return to normal. Then there's the FOMO aspect that makes waiting not plausible. For those that will use this for mining, they've figured they can make back what they have spent on this.. that it will pay for itself in less than 12 months.

$1781 (before tax) by using chat. I subtracted $98 from the total you see below because I added $98 of memory and that wasn't the original build the OP described.

The chat guy specifically asked me how I got rid of the warranty. I just told him it was an option.

I already got my email from Chase saying I used the offer. Hopefully that pans out as expected for another $100 off.

I didn't even use the 10% off coupon I got via signing up for the newsletter, so I can keep that for the future. I also got 3% rewards (could have been 6% for financing but that negates the Chase $100).

Any advice on a "decent" (I'm not really gaming so I don't care) graphics card to replace the 3080 I'm going to sell on ebay?

Any reason not to get the liquid cooling on this machine vs air cooling?

Also I will be running it everyday for work as well, will it hold up?
