Alright folks, as requested I created a video with a step-by-step to replace the front fan and repaste the RTX 3080 GPU. The temps in my machine decreased from 110 degree memory junction down to 76 degrees following these relatively simple mods. Not too bad.

I'm not a youtuber, simply created this video for your benefit to maximize the performance of the unit. Here is a link:
https://youtu.be/YklybEdoKIM
"Dell Aurora R12 RTX 3080 Repaste and Fan optimization - Easy 30 degree temp difference fix!"

Enjoy.
You and everyone else. Everyone coming to slickdeals and posting these 3080 deals from dell don't understand that they will not actually ship.

I've done it twice now. Both times they delayed my shipment every month. My first order took 5 months of delays before they finally cancelled and gave me a crappy 10% coupon that expires in June. Everyone on reddit knows not to bother posting these dell builds because dell doesn't ship. They simply take your payment information, add you to their mailer list, sell your information to other companies, cancel your order and enjoy the profits of their farmed mailer list of people who want the latest technology.

Dell is trash tier right now, hell I'd even trust Newegg over Dell when it comes to 3080 products, and that's embarrassing to say.

https://www.ign.com/articles/dell...-hot-price <- IGN did an article on this already. It was full of $1500 3080 builds and links.

Trust me, these guys aren't shipping. Feel free to reply here with a picture of it actually arriving if you think you can prove me wrong.

Don't present it as Exhibit B in a trial or anything, but I did read a few GPU manufacturers and distributers halted shipments of cards meant for prebuilts once they saw the cards skyrocket in price leading into and during the holiday season. Obviously you can't say for certain the motive, but yeah, it probably does stand to reason the folks who ordered on Nov and Dec last year have a legitimate gripe while it most likely being a different scenario with the batches afterward.

Given they've still got the 3080 listed as an option, I'm getting the feel they're confident in fulfilling orders.

After 2 hour chat with 4 different CS, finally got the offer I want...

Have the spec link ready, send to chat and ask for their best price quote.
They said the warranty was a glitch which could be removed in mobile browser, they have to add it back, but somehow quote me with the same price...quite a surprise...

Not to mention there are extra perks adding to this deal:
4% Rebate $70+
3% Dell reward $50+
10% Amex offer $200 Peace

You are correct. Their margin on these at $2000 is about 20%, and that is entirely fair for building a high powered system for someone and giving them free, fast shipping on such a large, heavy item.

I have seen one of these in person, inside and out. I got it handle it a bit, too. The thermals are absolutely middle of the road. Even though it's cramped, the airflow over the GPU and CPU are not bad. For gaming your temps will be reasonable. If you're heating up that GDDR6X or pushing the overclocks, you'll want to do whatever you can to improve the thermals. Some options:

1. Better fans
2. Thermal pads on GPU
3. Upgrade to the liquid CPU cooling option or add a liquid cooler yourself.

These custom 3080s aren't bad, but they're not great either. The reports of high temps are accurate, but they aren't any hotter than say, your average Gigabyte or Zotac.

The stock fans are noisy when they ramp up to compensate for thermals at heavy loads.

The case is plasticky and not attractive at all. The very front of the case looks decent, but the sides look like plastic toys up close, and the whole computer feels cheap.

The inside looks straight outta the year 2000 Dell build. Typical plain, thick metal insides, unlike the Omen that HP feels comfortable putting a tempered glass panel on.

I ordered one, and I don't expect a cancellation. It's actually a pretty solid PC for the money. I plan to replace the thermal pads on the 3080, as I want it to last. The plan is for this to be my primary gaming PC for some time.

This is WAY easier and more doable than trying to personally aquire all these parts, especially the GPU, and assemble it yourself.

My biggest gripe is honestly the green PCB on the 3080 if I decide to put it into a prettier case with tempered glass. 🙁
Please let me know where you order the thermal pads, and how to install... not new to PC builds, but VERY new to thermal pads..cooling etc.

I bought a 3080 and two 3070's all delivered before due date. If you want to mine on the 3080 it gets really hot.
The junction temps hover around 106. I opened the card and applied thermal paste. Now the temps are around 86. But I'm surprised with the 3070's. The 3070's stay really cool hovering around 40. Change the fans immediately they get crazzzzy loud like a rocket blasting off.
Easy to replace ? What aftermarket fans do you recommend ?

For those people saying this won't ship, my Alienware w/ 3090 was ordered on 2/27 and received on 3/19. About three weeks. Not bad.

Amazon has them. Try to get pads with at least this much thermal conductivity. I accidentally ordered some with only 6, and that's not going to make as big of a difference.

Then google some well-rated videos on YouTube about how to replace the thermal pads on a 3080. There are lots of resources out there. Be warned, many manufacturers will void your warranty for doing this, even though it actually makes it less hot.

How is their margin 20% when the 3080's are worth $2k by themselves? lol
