Tax implications: when you receive mining payouts (cash or coin), you should self report as income. (It will be taxed as income per the tax bracket you are in). If you choose to hold and cash out later after it appreciates (or depreciates) that amount appreciated is subject to capital gains taxes (short or long term depending on how long you have held.

Hope this helps.
Do you even crypto brah?

You seriously are recommending to self report and pay taxes on your at home mining rig? This is the funniest thing I've read in this thread .. you have no clue what you're talking about. You'd have to be a complete and utter moron. The government has ZERO clue about anything you mine.

Don't give people advice on this and end with a "hope this helps". 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Brah... this is what a tax advisor or tax professional would tell you if you asked them what the tax implications are of mining.

Whether you choose to follow the tax code or how you personally want to interpret it is completely up to you, or in working with your tax advisor / accountant. =)

Everybody is talking about getting the RTX 3080. How about getting a deal on the base R12? I chatted and managed to get $783 before tax with upgraded liquid cooling. Is this a decent deal?

I could build and sell you a better computer for $800 while still pocketing enough profit for myself for it to be worth my time. Even better if I can use $850 total budget by using secondhand parts without tax.

Anandtech has a review because they were able to purchase one from retail and so they are not subject to the embargo. Very interesting review. There is slight improvement from previous gen but absolutely no improvement in gaming (and in fact slight degradation). The power used is very high as well. Not a very flattering review. The review is not shy to point out how much further behind Intel is now compared to AMD. Of course, for gaming any option will do.

I'm genuinely wondering whether it's worth it to wait till after July. If the crypto landscape changes in July, the crazy GPU demand might slow down, leading to better prices.

It was suppose to change this month, it didn't. I would say by September profit will be down slightly, but not enough to change the demand.

For those who does not want read all 25 pages here is some FAQ:

1) How to get -$135 off for the Warranty?
This option is available via mobile version of the site.
2) How does this 3080 card look like? Is it suitable for mining/intensive use, is it 3- or 2-fan model?
It is a 2-fan model, with likely insufficient cooling for mining, Temp above 100C at intensive use. The alienware desktop interior, 3080 and 3090 cards are shown in this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZYAOwML1II
3) How to cool down the 3080 card?
Replace factory fans and thermal pads. See post of bearsworth8 for details.
Haha nice appreciate including me Smilie. For more in depth you can drop the temps in vram dramatically. I was messing around with different brands but ideally 12.8 W/mk or above 10 works the best. For size the pads are 1.5mm for all of them. Don't forget to change the pads on both sides. I think due to max production the backplate appears to not have full coverage of pads. You may have to cut larger for the back. I can confirm based on testing this drops temps at least 10 degrees.

For how much to buy, you need around 85mmx70mm for full coverage of the gpu.

I ordered extra pads in bulk because I can't fathom paying sellers the huge price. But if you are forced to buy Amazon, the thermal odyssey pads are standard and you might need 2 boxes of the one on Amazon. PM me for pads if you want to save some dough. I probably can't use the extra 30 sheets XD.
