I think the previous commenter is referring to recent revisions. Not moen from several decades ago.

For us its about every 3.
I have had to replace one specific shower cartridge every 2 years. But only that one shower. I have another shower and 3 sinks using moen cartridges and they have never given me trouble.
I was just about to buy these last week but went for the very similar Delta Haywood faucet because it was cheaper @ $57pp on Amazon. Flow restrictors are very loud in those as the reviews claimed. You can replace them or even remove them entirely if the noise is too much for you.
I still have six "builder-quailty" Moen faucets installed 9 years ago with original cartridges. Lucky/unlucky?
It isn't like Delta is any different. Both Moen and Delta have builder's grade stuff where they will leak after a few years and you need to replace parts.
We bought a "Moen" from Costco for like $50, and it is a joke compared to our $400 Moen ktichen faucet. Clearly there is a massive variation in quality within the brand.

The cold water started to drip water every 10 seconds or so not matter how much I close it up, which is so annoying. searched methods online they all say about taking it apart and clean, but didn't do the job for me. Any suggestions other than just replacing it?

You probably need to replace the seats and springs. These are wear items.
You just call them. Both Moen and Delta have lifetime warranties on their products if you are the original owner
