This is a great lens for the EF-M system. My favorite I've used. I've bought Canon refurbs in the past and they are always indistinguishable from new to my eyes.
They have the similar 24mm 2.8 for the EF-S system as well for a very cheap $75
In my experience refurbished lenses have been just fine but if it's only $19 difference I would buy new.
Agree. I have only had problems with one refurbished lens directly from Canon, had to send it back twice actually, but overall I would buy again. At this price point though, I'd go (actually did) for the new one.
If you're the kind of person who keeps boxes, you'll probably get more selling it again someday if you have the new paperwork and box. The Canon refurbished boxes are just white boxes which say Canon on them, but they are clearly not the boxes that the new equipment comes in.
These lens often go on sale for this price band new around holidays and special sales events.
Where? Canon.com? On Amazon, this lens has never been new at $149. It's usually around $249 and yes, goes on sale on occasion for $199. There is no tracker for Canon.com but I'm sure it hasn't been on sale for $149 recently.

Ummm might wanna go take a look on the 'zon right now...
Yes, I posted that deal a few days ago. It's the first time this lens ever dropped to $149.
Are you just assuming that because it's $149 now, it must have been that low many times before?
Oh that was you! I got one. Thanks for the deal. I misread your post and thought you said it had never gone on sale for $150, but you meant that it's only gone on sale once for that price.

Same. I picked up an Olympus m10mk3 (naming is awful) and while I love it, canon makes some really attractive rigs.
Never purchased canon refurbished lenses. With shipping they're only 19 bucks less than new on Amazon. Worth just buying new?
