Amazon will be watching you love making
Amazon is using the as a very clever way of making you comfortable with having a camera in your bedroom. It's also a camera that will probably be pointing directly at your bed.The privacy concerns are obvious: an always-listening (for a keyword) microphone in your bedroom, and a camera pointing at your bed.
This combination of features would have triggered alarm bells just a few years ago during the NSA spying revelations. Microsoft's Kinect camera creeped a lot of people out just by sitting in a living room, always listening and ready. So why aren't people freaking out about Amazon's Echo
I don't see why you'd put this in your bedroom, it seems much more ideal for a kitchen or living room considering the tracking feature. You can also cover the camera when not in use. My thing is I have a computer webcam, a phone in my pocket, laptop with mic/camera, etc. If the government is that intent on listening to me then they can burn $$$ on listening to me talk trash about them, what I'm going to cook for dinner, etc.

It's Amazon's caption, not OPs.
Yes, great improvement over previous devices. Rotation that follows you is a bit gimmicky and struggles when more than one person is in the room, so we turned off the feature, but I still like being able to rotate the screen manually while I cook, and then eat. Camera is much improved over previous models for uses such as photos, videos and skype.

Thanks. What video calling protocols work on this? Skype and anything else?
Amazon has a video chat service that works I think it's call alexa to alexa but not sure. I use my ring door bell to call my wife on the our echo sometimes, the video is only one way when you do it that way.
It's OK as an alarm clock, but it's in no way "great".
Yeah i bought it when it was all the hype to help with work calls and to use in the kitchen. The device is a bit slow to follow and often you can see it in "timeout" staring into the corner...needs to be worked out. Stick to the other Amazon echo devices for now
