I have settled on both. There's strengths and weaknesses to each and can't imagine dropping either. The cashback at Costco exec more than covers my
Membership. Sams we don't shop at as much but there are some items that are simply only there that we buy regularly like huge boxes of strawberry uncrustables and Smithfield bacon lol.

Quoted... "When you buy shrimp, whether fresh or frozen, the size designation isn't standard and its best to use count per pound. When you see 41/50 on the packaging of frozen shrimp, that means there are 41 to 50 shrimps per pound. U15 means there are less than 15 shrimps per pound. The fewer shrimps per pound, the larger they are. Here's a quick overview:"

Look at attached excel sheet. Also full article here [jessicagavin.com].

Wife bought it last week. It's much thinner compared to what Costco always carries, and does not absorb much water at all. I do not recommend it.

Costco quality is significantly better than Aldi. Prices, probably not.

Came to post same, and given this is a US chain, I was surprised so many folks up at 2AM Jonesing for Costco. I think they have medication for this (@ Costco). . .

Has anyone done a thorough comparison of Costco vs Aldi? I've kicked around the idea of getting a Costco membership but from what I've read aldi has similar prices and no membership fee. And, it's closer so it's been a tough sell.
Costco/Sam's Club are usually a bulk buy sort of deal to maximize savings. Aldi mainly has food, but they're purchases at normal grocery sizes. You also have to consider that some of the offerings at Aldi are also not going to be the same brand.

I am lucky enough to have all three of them close by. I think if you have the room to purchases non-perishable items or supplies for the house in bulk, Sam's Club/Costco offers the slightly better bang for your bulk. For instance, I only use paper towels for wiping up messes that I don't want to use fabric towels to clean (such as particularly greasy messes). I think someone in the thread mentioned that Costco paper towels feel rough, but like, what are you using it on that it would matter that it feels rough on your hands for the 5-10 seconds that you use it? I've been switching off of these bulk buy towels— one from each of Kirkland (Costco brand) and Member's Mark (Sam's Club) and they feel comparable and I am just starting to get low on stock after 3 or 4 years.

Of the three, I personally shop at Aldi the most though as they have great prices for food as that's the thing that you typically need to restock on for cooking. It seems that my local Costco's fruits and veggies are always poorly chilled and have "fresh" shipments that are always bruised and going moldy, unfortunately. The Aldi weekly specials for plants/flowers is awesome, they make for wonderful gifts to friends and my house looks great (the wife has taken over on that end, but I've been buying them before I met her). I also used to stock up on 70 cents per dozen large eggs at my parents' Aldi (how can you beat that price for delicious protein?), but they've sadly raised the price up to $1.80 or so in line with the rest of the Aldi around. Actually, I think their prices of other things have been starting to go up too since they've been pushing commercials. Their cheesecake sampler used to be like $8 or $9, now it's a couple of bucks more.

I said earlier there's also brand to consider: Costco pushes it's Kirkland stuff (usually of high quality), but if you want specific "known/bigger" brands, I think Sam's club usually has more variety. Aldi will have more "unknown" brands, but I'm perfectly happy with that.

Costco has a lot of great stuff that my house has, but people also sleep on Aldi for the basics. I don't go to Sam's club too often, but I do when they have something specific I need (their website /app is miles ahead for checking prices and what's in stock).

Any opinion on the beef lasagna?
Our family prefers the beef and sausage. Also, there are two lasagnas vs one with the beef.

Any opinion on the paper towels? I always see it on sale but was wondering if it's worth it. Towel size seems small but how is the durability and quality?
Get some decent cotton dish towels and save yourself some money

I only bought once and won't buy again, maybe better for environment but I like Kirkland better. Always rips at bottom when pulling from roll

I think the paper towels are great. The roll size has shrunk some during the pandemic but the price has been reduced accordingly so you're paying the same price per sheet as before. I paid $14.79 in-warehouse for a pack today.
He was asking about the towels on sale, the organic ones, if you paid $14.79 you must be talking about the regular Kirkland ones, not the ones on this post

They are completely different stores, I'm not sure this is worthy of a comparison, Costco isn't just food, I've purchased so much from Costco like outdoor furniture, clothes, etc.

That means just different size. Same taste and texture?
Not sure which type of 2lb bag you are referring to, I always buy shell on shrimp (raw) because the shell enhance and keep the taste. The U-15 I have tried was pretty good. It's on the expensive side for sure, the sale makes it better, worth one time try in my opinion.

Anyone knows if the sleeping pad are any good?
I bought two of them last year towards the end of the season. Only used once for the kids, but they seem to like them. Will try out more this season. Pretty simple to inflate, but kind of a pain to get all the air out and roll back up. Personally I prefer the cot but it takes up a lot more room
