Having done manual blood pressure readings, there's no way most people can take their own blood pressure manually and accurately. These are some of the most accurate consumer level monitors and generally work quite well.

True.. but I've used a couple cheaper ones off of Amazon (with good reviews) for a few years and they were problematic and or erratic. Have the 5 series omron now... its soo much better

I own the older 10 series. Had it for like 10 plus years. No issues at all. As bill798 mentioned, taking it to your doctor to check it against theirs is a good thing to do. I liked that the one I own is able to fit my 24 inch pythons brother. But seriously, that's something to consider when you purchase one of these. Make sure it properly fits your arm otherwise the readings will be inaccurate.

I'd love to have 114/73 but I fear the mind control rays are causing me to have much higher BP. I'm ordering one of these for the nice app tracking feature!

Lol Resident here - i agree that the manual cuff is more accurate. BUT (and huge BUT) the average joe does not properly know how to use the manual cuff. The manual cuff is definitely the best option, but knowing your target audience is key. Other reviews online and here have suggested these are accurate. Patients bring it into their PCP and have it confirmed. So yes, I guess you're correct - manual is better. But this is better for people who don't know how to take it manually.

Edit: article is also from 2014. We've come long ways, in regards to technology from there. There are handheld ultrasound machines now...

Obviously manual is better. I'm usually pretty accurate just watching a manual cuff on me, but it is not easy to accurately read your own bp if you also have to do the inflation and deflation. And a stethoscope is going to add a lot to the cost equation. (TGF my Littman, because I have terrible hearing/focus)

Not necessarily. I have qardio wireless it's just as accurare and consistent as $20 A&D battery powered. Manual vary depending on brand quality and my ears. Sometimes i miss beats. Electronic don't miss. My dr offices use omron and A&D.

I got one from CVS a week ago. CVS, as usual, has MSRP prices. I had one 40% off coupon, another 30% off coupon and CVS was offering $20 rewards $. Effectively I paid about $24 with taxes. Still, even at $50 this is a very good deal and with WELCOME25 it seems to be an excellent deal.
