Been looking for a good quality, flat bottom, coating-free, thick carbon steel wok (as recommended on many review sites for home woking). Every wok matching these features was either sold by third-party sellers or required expensive shipping. Finally came across this item on sale today with free shipping and it appears to be exactly what I wanted: reviewers in the comments report it is constructed out of 14 gauge carbon steel and the wood handle can be removed when oven seasoning.

Description:
Our exclusive carbon-steel wok is perfect for stir-frying meats and veggies, deep-frying tempura, steaming with bamboo inserts and more. Traditional carbon-steel construction ensures quick, efficient heating and exceptional heat transfer in a light, easy to maneuver pan. Wok features a sturdy maple handle for easy, safe stirring and flipping and a flat bottom for even results on a variety of cooking surfaces. Safe for use with metal utensils. Carbon steel will rust if not properly seasoned and stored.
  • Suitable for gas, electric, ceramic and induction stovetops
  • Carbon steel heats quickly and efficiently, and is perfect for high-heat cooking
  • Manufacturer: Sur La Table
  • Material: Carbon steel
  • Dimensions: 14" diameter
  • Made in Taiwan

$7 savings...not that big of a discount
For reference, the only other comparable woks I could find were:

Origins K Wok, 14", Black
$30.46
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000JLWU8A
*uses plastic handle that can't be removed (prevents oven seasoning).

Joyce Chen Flat Bottom Wok, Standard, Metal
Sold Out, normally runs around $35
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0001VQIP4
*removable plastic handle, attached with 2 rivets (vs 3 on this model).

Carbon Steel Wok With Metal Side Handle
$39.95 plus $25 (!!!) shipping inside the continental U.S.
https://www.wokshop.com/newstore/...de-handle/
*this would be my ideal design, featuring removable wood handle and welded (rivet-free) attachments, but no way in hell am I paying $25 for shipping. laugh out loud
It's my understanding that all carbon steel woks will develop a dark, non-stick coating after being properly seasoned.

Check your local Ross/Marshall's for woks. I got a 14" Joyce Chen carbon steel wok for $12 and a 12" stir fry carbon steel wok for $9 at Ross a couple months ago.

Comments say this one is 6 pounds. That's gonna tire your arm out quickly if you try to toss the food. You should be able to get a same size wok for less than half the price and weight at your local restaurant supply store. I bought a winco branded one for about $13.
there are plenty of thinner woks out there, the thickness is a feature not a bug.

Bought this exact one at Marshalls for $15. Quality is good, a bit heavier than the Japanese woks, but it also retains heat better. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase.

probably the joyce chen mentioned by previous poster, likely using thinner steel than this one, still a good deal though.

I'd also add that it will be painful to try and season it on an electric range, the process is quite a bit more involved than seasoning a cast iron pan.

Here is a good seasoning guide.
https://thewoksoflife.com/how-to-season-a-wok/
that looks doable if you have a gas range, but with an electric range you probably need to bake it.

That has a non-stick interior. High heat and non-stick coatings do not mix.

Proper stir fried method definitely requires movement of the pan in a way that is not feasible with a 6 lb wok. I own a stainless steel tri ply 14" wok around that weight and a true stir fry is not easy with it since I rely entirely upon my spatula. Whether this is a "feature" I think entirely depends on what purpose you need a wok for. Generally carbon steel woks are preferred for stir fry because of their lightweight and durability with high heat. I'm glad someone raised the weight.

Get a removable gas burner for $80 and put on top of your electric range. Use propane and save on electricity.
If you want to do it right, skip the basic gas burner and get a high output turkey fryer you can use your wok on. You can get cheaper ones starting around $40, but some are better designed to work with a round bottom like a wok than others. Plus, if you shop after holidays sales (Thanksgiving, New Year), you can often find them half off (or more).
Quote from Brogineer :
Carbon monoxide is a byproduct of propane. If you're going to do this, only do it outside.
Natural gas used in stoves and cooktops produces some carbon monoxide too. So while not a terrible suggestion, using a propane stove under your kitchen vent shouldn't be any worse than a natural gas cooktop.
Though if anyone does follow my suggestion and try a turkey fryer, it would probably be best outside if just because of the higher output.
