Mineral glass is about a 5 on the Mohs scale, Hardlex is around an 8. A sapphire watch crystal would be about a 9 and diamond is a 10.
Also, supposedly these Seiko 5 Divers have a lot of overlap with the more popular Seiko mod parts, so it should be possible to swap in an aftermarket sapphire crystal if this hardlex ever gets too banged up.

From a seller like Macy's, I actually would "roll the dice." Unless Macy's has some kind of strict no-return policy on watches.
Aside from all that, this is an absolutely killer watch for the money IMO. I have it in a different color and I'm very happy with it.

Agreed. I have this in black, along with the Sea Urchin. I must be lucky as both are perfect, zero issues.
It's not too from saying the difference between Toyota and Lexus. Same company, but it has products for different markets. With that comes different product product release acceptance criteria.

Fair enough but I can see someone comparing a Toyota to a Lexus and considering if they want to splurge from a 25k-30k car to a 40k+ car. I feel that it's not as big a difference percentage wise to comparing a $200 watch to a $2000 watch

I bought it from Macy's on February 18, 2020 for the same price.
