Me too. Thinking about it the last week or two and then this deal popped up so I got one. Might be fun to bring on trips and such.

Ya that's gonna be my major use for it. To get outside with the kids to a place like a park and while they play around, I can do something to instead just sitting there. Should be pretty cool to take when camping or backpacking as well.

Ah what the heck. I've been wanting to get into this hobby for the last few years but every time I attempt to buy one, I read on some deep flaws or negatives as to why this isn't the model you should buy. Ends up being where everyone is recommending a model which is almost a grand if not more. So I finally said screw it and got this guy. Hope it's a lot of fun!

Agreed. I had the Mavic Pro when it first came out and played with it for a bit. Unfortunately there are so many restrictions on where you can fly it that I barely flew it...so I sold it. I bought the Mini 2 last week to bring on trips just for fun. The price is right so if I can't use it as much then I won't feel like I wasted $1k for essentially a toy. The Mini 2 is so much easier to carry also that I'll probably end up bringing it with me more. It flies very well and captures good 4K video.

Does it come with a usb c connector for the remote for Android phones or do I have to buy that separately?

I'm having a hard time justifying buying a $50 drone, so just curious, what do you guys do with a $400 - $500 drone? Does it sit in a closet after the 'wow, new toy' feeling is gone? Do you use it for professional photography/videography?

Yup, sounds about right.

I've been waiting on a deal for the mini 2 for awhile now. This seems like the one!

I previously had a phantom 3 (I think) but got rid of it because never really used it. Fast forward some years and recently been looking at large hilly wooded properties that are difficult to navigate to get an idea of property lines. Are there any software tools that either can draw property lines in AR or help follow a mapped perimeter? Just been having a tough time exploring land and trying to figure out where boundaries are and think a drone might be really handy for this

Ordered. Anyone has experience with Costco standard shipping times? Never wanted a drone but now can't wait to take it out.

Drone newbie here. Having object avoidance sensors seems like a must have on a drone. If this a long range drone how do you make sure your not running in to things when you cant see it?

The cord comes with the remote and hides inside of it when the transmitter is pushed in.

Look at what the camera sees bc it's small enough that you ll lose sight of it pretty quickly once it's a bit away from you. Fly it high enough if there are obstacles around and make sure your return to home altitude is adjusted accordingly as well. Navigating between obstacles is possible bc it's small but for for flying near objects it's helpful to have obstacle avoidance (which this doesn't have) or if you really want to fly close to things you ll want a FPV drone instead.

It's illegal to fly a drone out of visual line of sight without a waiver and its not a great idea anyway. Regardless of law, you're far more likely to crash and then far less likely to recover it. For me, the real benefit of Ocusync is the reliability in urban areas with lots of wifi rather than the range. (I don't have a DJI drone so this is theoretical for me.)

Doing a Youtube search for "mavic air fell out of sky" or any other brand/model can be educational.

Pix4d is great and a lot of fun. OpenDroneMap is an open source alternative.
