SD rule #1: Never call the store!!!
Got two. Were asked to donate for school supplies. Too shy to say no. Donated $5. Guess i am not a good SDer.
Saw 2 in stock in my area in NY, so I went to the store and they weren't on display. Went up to register and it seemed like the supervisor knew exactly the model and size I was looking for, and went to the back and retrieved it for me.

My guess is an employee is trying to keep it for themselves... but I left one for them

Did a order for 2 staples stores in Vegas. 1 order was canceled and the other was ready to pick up within minutes. Asked to do a price check and came out to clearance price. Canceled the online order and bought it in store. Also used $10 off $20 coupon I got via Text a few days ago.
How do you get that coupon? Signing up for text alerts?

Staples is going to depend on what their AS400 says and it's never accurate - or even better, it's an item located somewhere in their lockup

Hmm I see. There are a lot of stock in Manhattan, so I guess it's worth it to try.

Is this good enough for a server/pfsense?

For my friend, it is will be mainly an OS drive for a secondary system that is mainly used for powerpoint presentations and hardly anything more demanding than that.
I use the 120 gb size for running untangle firewall and a omv nas. Perfect size and cost to have as spares as well.

Lol, I'm a teacher and felt like I had to justify not giving 5 dollars by telling the cashier that I was an educator. I'm trying to build a pc from cheap or free parts so this was a great deal for me!
So am i.

Id like to know which store you went to also. I am close to the one in North Babylon and they show a few in stock. TIA!

One thing I did learn recently, which I have setup for but others don't. SSD's are terrible for data recovery due to TRIM cleaning out the data. I point my documents and downloads to an HDD to not fill up my SSD, and data is recoverable if something happens.

What's a good use case for these? A boot drive for a PC? Or put in an old laptop to give it new life? I assume just using it for storage alone isn't very optimal due to the size.
Boot drive for a Linux appliance like a nas, htpc, or firewall. Raspberry Pis are surprisingly snappy with a usb ssd to boot from, and you can mitigate the chance of data corruption on an SD card. Many routers will let you attach a drive to roll your own cloud storage.

Or you can throw it in an enclosure for a portable drive.

While you can get a basic Win10 install and Office on 120GB you're like 2/3 full. So I really wouldn't recommend them for Windows unless you absolutely know the system isn't going to be used for much.

Or, you know, you could back up your important data.

Doesn't look like Brickseek updates Staples inventory in anywhere near real time. Bought a few of these earlier today, but the Brickseek quantity hasn't changed.
