Saw 2 in stock in my area in NY, so I went to the store and they weren't on display. Went up to register and it seemed like the supervisor knew exactly the model and size I was looking for, and went to the back and retrieved it for me.

My guess is an employee is trying to keep it for themselves... but I left one for them

Stopped in local staples because both brick seek and staples.com said they had 6. When I got there I asked a clerk who responded without looking up anything "no we're out of those". I figure he's been asked daily since this post.

I don't know why I delude myself into thinking online stock data is remotely correct. YMMV = 1/100 chance when I bite. 😫

Is there a limit? How long will the deal last for? I don't have a Staples anywhere near me but I'm going on a road trip Wednesday and there's some Staples along the way.

Just bought 1 in Fort Collins, CO. There is 1 left. Brickseek says 6. They were piled in a jumbled mess with other HP drives.

Got one from the nearest Staples. Store representative checked the inventory and went to the back store to get one.

Ordered a cable for my HP laptop from Amazon, hope it works.

I am assuming if they cancel your order there are none in the store or hidden from most Staples staff.

You could do that. The best use for these mlc nand drive is endurance write, ie cache and tasks that require a lot of writes. An 120gb mlc nand drive can last over 125tb of writes. My ozc 120gb mlc drive have over 70tb of writes and still have 56% life left.

The cheap drives that coming out these days won't last long. 100 writed per cell todays nand vs 5000 writed per cell mlc nand.
What program do you use to find out the information on writes/life of a drive?

This is an excellent drive for a plain windows/linux OS installation with a few needed software. Can be formatted and new installs can be done without affecting other files system. It's also an excellent way to revive old laptops/pc which are running on HDDs. Would definitely not be a good option to carry as an external drive (you'll have to buy an external case for $5-15 extra) since 256 & 512 gb USBs are smaller, cheaper and way better for carrying around.

For any gamer or programmer these would be horrible since the space would fill up pretty quickly... minimal I would recommend is 250 gb if you are either/or and 500 if your are both. I for one prefer to have my games and development installs to be in the same drive as OS but my workspace would be on a different drive so it's easier to reinstall everything without touching my artifacts. Even with my segregated approach this drive does not fit my needs.

Since this is a huge ymmv and has been out there for a few days now, know the purpose before you head out. Happy shopping. Smilie

Grabbed two in South Florida. Online site had correct quantity of three, but the cashier was very excited about the price, so I left one for her. Not on the floor, had to ask them to check in the back. Great find!

Got the last one in Hempstead NY. Oh, and you guys are the worst at following the "don't call" rule. I got a polite conversation going with the young lady helping me and she said her manager told her to watch out for people looking for it because they were calling about it non-stop.
