RTINGS REVIEW: 7.2/10
"The Samsung RU9000 is a decent TV for most uses. It performs impressively well for gaming due to its low input lag, fast response time, native 120Hz refresh rate, and VRR support. Its high contrast ratio is great for viewing movies in the dark; however, it lacks local dimming and doesn't get bright enough to bring out highlights in HDR movies."

I remember paying $450 for my 32" triniton
I don't know if this is a good tv or not, but it's just crazy TVs of this size are under 1000. I remember when they used to be several thousands.
Correct, same one I bought 3k in early 2019

I thought the "R" designation for Samsung was their 2019 models.

I bought a 65" 5 Series and I am very pleased with it so far. We use it for the bedroom and in the living room I have a 75" Vizio P-Series and the image quality is pretty close. A bit of artifacts in full color and dark scenes as expected (I forgot what the term for the "defect" is called) but overall great quality for the price. That's my 2¢

I think it was around 2007 where at Magnolia Hifi a tv 75" is around 75k and 30k for the stand since it was so beefy. Don't quote me, details fuzzy

Bought this last time at sams for the same price. I like it, but there is noticeable light bleed near the corners

It depends on what you prioritize. The TCL has a potentially better picture in some aspects, but the Samsung has other appealing features.

If you want VRR support for new consoles, get the Samsung. TCL has full array local dimming, so HDR can look better (This Samsung is edge lit).

Personally, I'd opt for a smaller display with a better quality panel. I own a TCL 6 series from 2018, and have no major issues with it. Others don't have the same experience with TCL, but same can be said for Samsung. I'd say the Samsung is a safer bet.
