This article has the worst logic ever. If Apple were to discontinue the iPhone Mini, it would basically become a collectors item considering how short the production run was.
this is so frustrating how long it's taking for there to be a good deal on a regular iphone 12 without agreeing to expensive monthly plans. if the visible mobile or red rocket deal or xfinity mobile deal any of those had been like $75 cheaper I would have done them.

Literally sick of these garbage deals while Samsung practically discounts their flagship on day one. Do better Costco
What's wrong with this deal? $699 for the 12 and $150 costco not bad if anyone looking to get a good discount without multiple steps! $100 cheaper than reatail and if a new line then $250 off!
I'd be willing to live with that except the iPhone 11 deals were meh when the 12 came out....
iPhone 11 new deals were great when you could get practically free or j think half off a few years ago. At this point it's coming out in September. I wouldn't bite now.
they shouldn't have called it mini. it has a 5.4" screen
For reference I like to compare the iPhone 12 mini screen to that of the iPhone 8 Plus. The 12 mini screen is narrower but also taller (reflecting the trend lately). The near lack of bezels/edges makes it a great comparison assuming you're willing to make the jump to buttonless operation.
Unfortunately the power draw of the screen relative to the constrained battery size available in the iPhone 12 mini means that the other feature common among plus-model phones isn't even a close comparison here. Recent articles suggest a move in the next model of iPhone towards more power efficient OLED screens. Unfortunately this may come too late for the mini model, which really could have been a killer small form factor phone for Apple.
I own the 12 mini but consider it difficult to recommend unless you're desperate for the small form factor and willing/able to charge regularly. Allowing for that this is probably one of most compelling models Apple has released since the X or SE (the former being Apple finally acknowledging OLED, the latter being a critical lifeline for the button-fixated crowd).

Recall that the iPhone 12 mini was literally free with trade-in at launch. Any deal on the mini will forever be measured by those kind of offers as well as some of the crazy trade-in deals competitors have run to drive phone sales during the recent period. To use a recent example for me, "I traded in two Note 5 phones for two Samsung S21 discounted to zero and you want me to buy a smartphone for cash?"
Good luck!
Jon

I have an 8 plus now. I would consider getting a 12 mini if they have crazy deals on it when the next model comes out.
