Why would you ever want to connect garage door to Alexa

Personally, I use this instead of a garage door opener left in the 2nd car in the driveway. Much more secure

They do it because it's part of the integration with Ring eco-system, which in turn is owned by Amazon. Ring + this garage opener allows you to participate in a program where Amazon drivers 'securely' drop your packages inside your garage instead of your doorstep.

Thats a bad idea for a voice opener. A "smart robber" would just go to an open window and yell out "Alexa, open garage"
The Meross garage opener which has Alexa integration specifically requires a spoken PIN code for this very reason.

How about Tesla integration so it opens door when arriving home automatically?

I have the older black model & am spoiled, wont ever go back to not having one. No issues with LED light bulbs here.

I bought this over the winter because I was tired of having to go to the front door where we keep a garage door opener to open the garage in the morning when remote starting my car (remote start is done via a phone app). It's pretty slick how simple it is to install. Just a little stick on sensor for the door so the system can tell if the door is open or closed and a hub that goes on your wifi and acts as the opener remote. You program it just like you would a universal garage door opener but the app has a really detailed walkthrough for the various garage door opener makes/models.

I linked it to Amazon and now 90% of my deliveries are securely left in my garage (only works for packages delivered by amazon, not UPS/FedEx/USPS). I get a notification when they're 2 stops away, when they're delivering, and when it's been delivered. Plus the notifications from MyQ that the door was opened and closed.

We have the door on a schedule to close at 11pm for the rare times when we forget to close it. You can use the app to give out temporary access to your garage to friends/family assuming they have the app. No, you can't open it from Google home, but you can close it by saying, "Hey google, ask MyQ to close the garage door". This makes sense from a security point because you don't want someone standing outside an open window to be able to yell "Hey google, open the garage" and have it actually open the garage.

The app works great on my iphone xr. With FaceId it's about 3-4 seconds from the time I tap the app icon to when it's logged in and ready to send a command to the door. Door commands are basically instant. I have no idea why people are asking about working with LED lights. This thing doesn't have anything to do with your lights. It's basically just a universal garage door opener that's on wifi so you can send the open command via an app. The flashing LED light it has built into it is just a safety device to let anyone standing in the garage know the remote close is being triggered. But anyway, my garage door opener is wired to 4 large LED strip lights in my garage and they work exactly the same since installing this as they did before.

I bought one of these about a year ago.. While I don't really need to open my garage with my cell phone because I have the integrated garage door opener in my vehicle, I do like the fact that I am alerted whenever my garage is opened and/or closed. I'd pay $20 for that peace of mind.

I bought this a few months back for two reasons:
1: So I could check remotely that my garage door was closed.
2: So that I could open the garage if my remote's batteries were dead.

I connected it with simple commands and can just say "hey Google, open the garage" when I need to use it.

It's come up handy a couple of times when my batteries died one time, and when I was working in the yard and had to get something in the garage without having to go in the house and get dirt everywhere.

I had the same thought. I have both Echo AND Google assistant and even though it says it will connect to G A, I haven't been able to. I believe the only thing the G A feature would be able to do is let you know the status, if the door is open or closed, which, the app does anyway.
If you want to add it to Google, there's a subscription you have to do with MyQ. It's free though. It becomes available after you do the account setup. After that, the command is "Ask MyQ to close to garage" or something similar. As with most of these types of devices, you can't use voice to open.

If you don't mind opening it to hack it. There are several youtube videos that shows you how to disable it remove the beeping speaker.
Yeah, I saw those, but I didn't want to do anything to void the warranty, nor did I want to completely remove the speaker for safety's sake. Putting duct tape on it did just fine.

Does this white new model (G0401) compatible with old black one (G0301)? I want to use the garage door sensor with the current old model?

I don't quite understand why Amazon keeps promoting this, while it doesn't work with Alexa i.e. you cannot ask Alexa to open your "Smart Garage Door". Can't they find a brand that can connect with the "Smart Home" gadgets they are selling?
You can ask Alexa to close the door via IFTTT.

You can make it work with alexa, search how to on YouTube. You have to create a scene that links to the action in the My Q app to open our close the garage door. Then your create a voice command ITTT to trigger the scene. My only complaint is that my regular garage door openers stopped working once I installed this.

For a garage with two doors, should I buy two of these since it's cheaper than buying the add-on?

I have connected 2 of my garage doors to the black version. Barring a few instances, both work seamlessly. One of my garage opener is a craftsman and the other is manufactured by Liftmaster. Took me 15-20 minutes to link the hub to the wi-fi network and another 5 minutes to sync hub with the garage doors and the sensors. I bought the 1st one for $16 during last years thanksgiving and another refurbished (was brand new with all the packaging possibly from an amazon returns seller!) one from ebay (just for a 2nd sensor) for $10.

I already have the old black myQ Smart Garage Hub on one of may garage door and it works fine. I want to buy this one but wondering if I could use this new one on my second garage door and pair the old black garage door sensor with this new hub. Does anyone know if the old garage door sensor can be paired to this new hub or do I need to keep the old hub too.
