This has been a promotion at both HD and Amazon for over a month. Solid tool; I have both it and the sub-compact brushless rotary hammer. Both are capable for tapcons and small concrete anchors.
This is a good deal but value the 5.0ah battery at $50-$60 if you are trying to unload and keep the tool. Marketplaces are absolutely flooded with these batteries from all the promotions
How does the power match up to the Makita 1" AVT SDS-Plus D-Handle Rotary Hammer HR2641 model? I do like the portability of this, but would the power significantly fall short of a wired model? Asking if anyone has experience from a practical standpoint between the tools, what will the .5 ft lb of additional power in the wired model allow me to accomplish where this model won't be able to do?
Wish Makita would have promos on the bare tools as I have enough batteries and don't want to sit on extra batteries until they can be resold.
Right, the price to pay to be in the Makita club. I didn't know Makita was the most expensive until after I already had my first combo kit (xt447t). I filled out my DIY collection with other deals and hacks.
Though i did get a battery converter for the cheap ryobi vacuum and inflater, both seem to work well. Now I almost have my milwaukee M12 Fuel automotive tools complete...debating on the extended reach ratchet...so spendy even with the current promo.
its a tough call for me. I do need a rotary hammer very soon for building the deck. but I might only need this for building my deck. debating should I just buy a cheap cord version for like $90 or just grab this one. I do have tons of Dewalt V20/60 and M12 battery lines.

I'm right there with you. I like the idea of cordless, but let's face it... for something like a rotary hammer a corded version will deliver more power, for half the price, and will work as long as I can without worrying about charging batteries. Since I don't expect to ever need this capability where I have no power, corded makes sense. Maybe even stepping up to a Bosch Bulldog for about the same price makes sense. Much, much more power and able to handle larger holes.
But I surely do like the convenience of a cordless tool...

I used to use a Hilti TE-5 for all my drilling needs which is mostly 5/8" or smaller for shields and tapcons and whatnot but I've not needed to used it since I got this. I've drilled around 1000 holes with it so far and I've been pretty happy with it. With the 5.0 battery its a good value.

Subliminal marketing, silly
Thanks. Looks like it went out briefly.
