For anyone considering this, please keep in mind that the new 6th generation version of iPad Mini will likely be released any day now, which is probably what is prompting these sales on the current 5th generation devices.

My advice is do not buy the mini 5. The lightening port went bad on mine and won't charge anymore. I took it to the apple store and they were going to charge me $325 to fix it because the lightening port is part of the motherboard. It is out of warranty, so it is garbage now.
I read rumors of a new iPad mini and 2 new versions of the iPad pro any day now. Myself I'm waiting to upgrade my iPad pro 10.5 so I've been wal reading a little ok it lately

I am just saying if the lightening port goes bad. That is how much you will have to pay to get it fixed because it is part of the mobo.
I haven't seen any statistic that says the iPad Mini 5 has specific problems with the lightning port. I mean, stuff happens, but to say that this specific model has an issue because you did seems a little far fetched. I've had this or that electronic device fail on me over the years, doesn't mean that all of those models were inherently bad.
Just an update. Per reports this AM, Apple event will likely occur April 20th, a couple days after this Costco promo ends. There is a good chance a new iPad Mini will be released that day, but that isn't known for sure at this point. I was considering buying from Amazon at this same discounted price since iPad Mini 5 vs 6 doesn't matter much for my use case, but decided against it and am waiting for the event since the discount isn't that dramatic anyway.

I did not generalize or state that this model is not good only because I have had issues with the lightening port. All I said was, the design is bad and the lightening port is part of the motherboard and so if it ever goes bad on yours, you will have to replace the entire motherboard in which it costs $325+.
