Can be used as a WiFi only device with no need to activate.
No contract or activation required to purchase or use as a "mini tablet" over WiFi or connected to a different phone's mobile data hotspot.
If you activate the included prepaid card, you are under no obligation to continue paying for service past the initial 30-days of included airtime. It will end automatically on day 31 (you must prepay to continue).

Bought one last week for this price. Phone is flawless and has an Apple warranty until Sept. Also works fine with latest IOS and R-SIM ICCID with US Mobile (Verizon). Picked up an 11 for $349 with plan and tax today, there's also CB available for these.
The nice thing is the old RSIM 13 works now with 14.2.x. You can remove the RSIM and use the phone like it's unlocked (even shows No SIM Restrictions in settings) until the phone is fully reset again. Of course, that could change at any time.
Seems like a customer return to me, not actually repaired/refurbished. I ran the 3U Tools and nothing stood out, 2 charge cycles on battery.

Received this phone almost a month ago from TW and the battery is not being recognized as an approved Apple battery and it won't take a charge. Anyone know what the warranty is on these phones from TW? Or do I need to go through Apple?

both will give you a hard time
total wireless will give you a hard time because it's well past the 7 days, and even with some customers that tried to return before the 7 days, they had lots of trouble.
You can try apple but more than likely it has an aftermarket battery and screen. if so, they will deny the repair.
when you received the phone, did you get one with a plastic film over the screen?
I ordered one for my uncle and it did not come with any type of film over the screen. Usually the ones that have the film means it has an aftermarket screen. Also, if the battery percentage is at 100% when it arrives, it usually means it had the battery replaced since these are 'reconditioned'
Received the phone today, the phone in flawless condition, download and update to new 14.5.1 ios, then I insert FreeupMobile sim with rsim 15+ and it activated and unlock the phone by itself, I didn't have to edit iccid or anything.
I didn't try any RSIMs, but did try another Gevey from ebay. I was just posting what worked for me since people in the thread are having issues.
I got the gevery and used the whole card. it wouldn't fit in the sim tray easily with the cricket sim and it seperated in two at the line that you can break for certain versions and use half. not sure what i did wrong.
did you have a hard time?
If you use the rsim for the first time then you have to input the iccid #. My XR was automatically unlock was because I've use the rsim for the iphone 6s before that's why the iccid was saved to the rsim.

No it did not have any film over the screen. The phone worked flawlessly for about 20 days then all of a sudden the battery went to 0%. The phone would still function but very slow, now it'll turn on for a bit then cut off. Total lemon. I feel duped. I tried to get help from TW but nothing. I have an appointment with Apple tomorrow but expect the run around from them as well.

Sorry to hear about that. I ordered one for my uncle and it did not come with a film cover so I figured I was good and it was probably a return with no refurb parts.
So far it's working good on tmobile for him.

So you're supposed to bend it in half (so it's like a book cover) and slide the SIM in the middle and put it in the SIM tray that way. You can look up how to do it on Youtube, there are tons of tutorials. I don't think it will work if it's broken in half though, you might want to look that up.

I made an appointment at the Apple store and they looked up the phone and said it was originally purchased in November 2020 but still under a limited warranty. They couldn't fix it on site, so they will send in to fix. If the battery is not original, they would charge me for a new one (he said a batter normally cost around $75). I really feel duped as I got a lemon and TW is doing absolutely nothing.
The apple store had to send the phone off for repair. I just got it back, mailed to home for free. All looks well but now I can't unlock it. I tried Rsim but no luck. It goes straight to activation and then fails. I'm trying to use an xfinity sim? Not sure if I know what I'm doing???

so they fixed it?
they usually send a sheet with the repairs that they did, does your have that?
which rsim do you have?
maybe you have to update the phone to 14.6 first

No. You can switch SIM cards freely after RSIM unlock.
There's no separate airtime card. The plan/airtime is preloaded with the bundle (phone+SIM)
