I bought 2 of these last time they had sale at 59.00. I had them both unlocked for 6.00 via ebay.
If you look at the build number (in settings/software) you will see build number.
ex. S205DLUDU5BTE7 (My 5th digit from end was a 5) if bit number is 6,7,8 cost is higher to unlock.
However, I "think" you can 'downgrade' firmware to older version. (YMMV) I didnt have to with mine.

Sounds like a great phone to buy if you're traveling internationally. I wanted to use it for cricket. But I'm afraid they're going to temporarily suspended my service like they did last time when I test drove a unlocked sprint A50 because they're no longer supporting 3G/4G in 2022

they can just cut the service on the phone but they have to suspend your line until you call them. for this alone I wont use their service. I like to change phone freely.

Double dipping is long gone, that's a nice bug they eventually fixed. I also notice my past mobile referral count reset to 0, but online referral count remains to give new account 8k points.

I am not complaining, tracfone's reward program is still generous, 8k points good enough to extend service another year, also help to unlock the VZ tracfones.

With gsm? I accidently bought this thinking it was gsm. Isn't it a CDMA phone? I can't get it to work with cricket. I unlocked it fine.

I am using verizon prepaid and it is working fine. Not sure about visible though
