You are aware the RF-7 is part of the RF line correct? The line that is set above RP, which in turn outclasses the R series? It is not even close to a reference speaker in quality, price, or availability.
RF speakers are a dream
Nice to see some actually thought out Klipsch RP bundles, their reference stuff is underwhelming but the RP line is great.

Not sure where the above comment is coming from. The Reference line is widely known as being of higher quality than the Reference Premier line. Most items in the Reference line are made in Hope, Arkansas, with better components. Check out the RF-7 MK-III.

ya, rf-7 would be 2x this price Smilie

Why don't we get to see many 7.1 packages? Is 7.1 not that much of an upgrade over 5.1?

According to https://www.klipsch.com/blog/refe...ifference, seems R < RP < RF (RF is confusing though)

The R series: https://www.klipsch.com/reference-series
The RP series: https://www.klipsch.com/reference...ere-series
and RF series: https://www.klipsch.com/rf-series

Recently bought the RP-280FA pair (699 from a frontpage deal), should I consider to return (not sure whether I can, delivery is scheduled tomorrow) and buy this set instead?

Or for the $1200 difference, I can actually find something similar?

Currently have a JBL Cinema 610 Advanced 5.1 Speaker System + Yamaha TSR-7850 7.2-Channel Network AV Receiver, and plan to use the 280FA to replace the front two first...

RP definitely ranks above R

But...I would find it surprising that RF ranks above RP... based on the wimpy center speaker that is part of the RF line.

It's dwarfed by several of the RP centers.

The Reference line is lower build quality than the Reference Premier line.

I don't believe any of the speakers with "Reference" in the name are made in America.

To my knowledge, the only speakers made in Arkansas is the "Heritage" line (Klipschorn, LaScala, Cornwall, etc.)

RF speakers are a dream
There is no "RF" line. In the case of the RF-7, RF stands for "Reference Floorstanding". The matching center channels are RC-62 and RC-64, for "Reference Center". And for the matching bookshelves... RB-41, RB-51, RB-61, and RB-81, RB is "Reference Bookshelf".

From Klipsch's website, and as marked on the tag of my speakers....

BUILT IN HOPE, AR
The Reference RF-7 II speaker holds a special place in our heart, as it is made by hand in Hope, Arkansas alongside the Reference RC-64 II center channel as well as Klipsch Heritage Series speakers and many of the Klipsch Professional speakers.

The RF-7 III and RC-64 III are matching top-of-the-range speakers, the is no matching bookshelf speaker in Klipsch's current lineup, but the RP-600M comes closest to filling that role. The RC-62 II is part of Klipsch's current entry level line and has no right being paired with the RF-7. The RB-41, RB-51, RB-61, RB-81 have been discontinued for awhile, got replaced version II's, which in turn got replaced by the Reference Premier RP-140M, RP-150M, RP-160M bookshelf speakers (the RB-81 II never got a direct replacement), which have also since been discontinued and replaced by the current top of the range bookshelf models RP-400M, RP-500M, RP-600M.
