To be fair, I have the game pads and they are all but useless. I would not get this to use it on a TV, it's a crippled experience with a lot of problems and input lag.
Get it for the mini console if you're into that, which can be had for less than $70 and drops pretty low.
I got two when they went on sale for $29.99 each (no controllers), which was a crazy deal, but they haven't been that price in about a year. Even with that said, neither of these prices are very good, historically.
I love mine, and they're really fun as a coffee table or desk item, but keep in mind these need to be plugged in at all time. They have no battery. So you need to either plug them into the wall or a battery pack.
It's a neat little device to keep on your desk to mess around with, but you won't be playing serious with the built in controls, and the gamepads aren't that much better. The bundle is somewhat worth it around $50, but higher than that you're better off getting the Arcade Stick Pro when it goes on sale for $100 and applying the HyloStick hack to give you the entire Neo Geo library.
Again, it's a neat mini system, but nothing more than a novelty compared to the other available methods of playing these games.
I have the International version, which is the same as this US version in software but different color schemes.
Couple notes:
1. If you connect to a big screen TV, the image quality will look bad with pixels. I tried on a 15" portable display with sharp and decent images.
2. You can use the PS4 controller with an additional adapter "MAYFLASH Magic-NS Wireless Bluetooth Controller Adapter". This is much better than using the inboard controllers or the game pads.

I got two when they went on sale for $25 each, which was a crazy deal, but they haven't been that price in about a year. Even with that said, neither of these prices are very good, historically.

$25 for just the mini console? Thats good price. When did that happen?
I have this console and used it with my 8bitdo gamepad which is probably much versatile than these gamepads, so definitely don't get it because it comes with gamepads since you might just be able to use the one you have.
