With that said, I would not expect it to be 2.0.
She just sent me a check for $150 to spend on whatever I wanted because she gave her granddaughters the same to buy clothes for their new jobs after graduating college. I told her it was not necessary and she said to spend it on whatever I wanted, so it is coming right back to her because this is what I spent it on.

I have perfect vision and there's not even much of a difference watching 4K video on my 4K 32" monitor from a couple feet away, vs watching a ~50" 1080p TV in the living room. There is a difference however, if I watch 1080p video on my 4K monitor from a couple feet away, vs 4K video on the same monitor.
4K content is too expensive anyway imo - even netflix is $4 more. It's just not worth it.
How many people are you inviting over to watch tv in the garage?
Nah, just thinking about having tv on while working on projects at workbench along one side wall or by the bike stand on the other side (it's a 2 stall garage, so quite wide). Kids watch tv there too sometimes while we're working / hanging in the driveway, as well, so potential for viewing at odd angles is fairly high. Obviously I wouldn't expect much from a $130 tv, but 160 degree viewing angles close to guarantee major color inconsistency.

Yeah, this would not be the best fit. Though dunno that you're going to find anything between a deal like this and a cheapo 4k, which prolly be an overkill. And would have sucky angles also, like the tcl 400 series. Maybe an rgbw sceptre or something? Cheap at times, maybe as big as 50" for not much more, and ok angles, though of course at the expense of color accuracy.
Wife would prob kill me I purchased it...

For what it's worth I'm doing the same in the garage with this. Just mounting it on an articulating wall mount near a corner, so I can just manually move it as needed.
Used to have a few JVC devices such MD and CD players in the late 90s. They were good and lasted a long time.
Does it have a gaming mode?
