I don't think it is open case. See the pictures in the review. Looks like there is a cover over the open section that slides in and out

This is the problem
I had with the original pair and then the warranty replacement pair. Both sets one of the buds stopped working after only a few months. But I use daily for walks and workouts.

I have these, they're great. Much bassier than any earbuds I've used, wireless or otherwise.

Took a few times to place the order (got a "quantity requested exceeded availability quantity" message).

Looking for some earbuds to use by the pool that I wont worry if get damaged.

Decent deal at $20. Not expecting AirPod quality.

Bought some Aukey earbuds a couple weeks ago and had to return because they were so horrible. Full of half baked features and badly designed. Tons of fake reviews on Amazon to boost them up. Staying away from their products like the plague from now on!

I picked up a pair a couple weeks ago when they were $12. They sound very good. Tons of bass. Also got a pair of ANC from aukey for $20.5 last week. Might still be on sale.
