In my experience, the magsafe "works" without a magsafe compatible case only in as much as the case thickness allows. So I have a 12 pro max and a tech21 clear case. I love the case, but the magnetic effect between my phone and my magsafe charger is weak. I assume that if I had an Apple magsafe certified case, it would align quickly and effortlessly to the specific spot on the back of the phone with a tighter magnetic effect. In speaking to others who have such cases, they say the magnetic force is quite strong with the apple cases. I can't speak to these cases. Given the reviewers saying that drops result in broken backs, etc., I won't risk my $1200 phone in a "good deal" case. I trust tech21 and have for the last 4 phones. Many many catastrophic drops later, they've earned my ongoing trust. I can deal with the magsafe weakness. Smilie

I purchased this case last time it was on sale. I really like it. My other case is an official Apple Silicone case and the only thing I've noticed is that this case is not quite as easy to get a charge going on my MagSafe Duo - have to be more careful lining it up on the pad.

I just ordered their kickstand case for 12 mini. Anyone using it with MagSafe? For the MagSafe cable is apple the only trusted cable to get? What's the best deal on it? The convenience of MagSafe seems clear but the reduction in charging speed is a disappointment

Make sure the seller you select is the seller listed above not another, I had to change it for one the Pro Max cases and it applied.

Newbie question, but doesn't the Iphone 12 series come with a magsafe magnet built-in already? If so, why would u need a case with a magsafe magnet? Perhaps a simple non-magnetic case doesn't work to do a mag-safe charge?

Thanks for the clarification and that definitely makes sense now why some would opt for the cases with the extra magnet in it. Yep, i'm a recent iphone 12 adopter and am looking around for wireless mag chargers. One can read for miles about pros/cons/science behind chargers vs case thickness vs who knows what other factors. lol.
