Tello has moved to GSM SIMs, so no longer can you re-use old Sprint SIMs. Tello will provide a free SIM when you sign up for new service (or for an existing customer using an old CDMA SIM). But, if (like me) you are worried about how long it will take to receive the SIM directly from Tello because your current MVNO contract (MINT for me) is about to expire, Amazon has the SIM kit [amazon.com] for $2 (typically $7+) with 1-day shipping with Prime.

Or, if you just want an extra SIM card for those of us that are jumping back and forth between MVNOs (since apparently you can't re-use the GSM SIMs on Tello), this is a good option.

Do you know if they accept any specific phone imei only? I tried several different unlocked phone imeis and all I get the message is not eligible?

I find their online IMEI checker glitchy. One day I tried an IMEI phone that I know will work but it claims it doesn't. On a different day, I was able to enter that IMEI into my account. Try calling tello, they have good customer service and the reps are very helpful every time I have spoken with them. They may be able to explain the message you are receiving.

They are likely using T-Mobile's IMEI checker, which as far as I can tell will block any AT&T-, Verizon-, and Sprint-branded phone regardless of whether they might actually work on the network or not. If you have one of those, then you'll probably have to contact customer service. For other devices, I think most unbranded, universally unlocked phones will pass the checker.

I had to drop them because they do not support t-mobile wifi calling and at my house I need it.

The new T-mobile's IMEI checker is very tricky.
My father has Samsung S9 unlocked from Cricket Wireless.
Tried to sign-up T-mobile Connect Prepaid plan, but couldn't pass the IMEI checker.
He is currently using US Mobile(T-mobile network). Strange.

may be a localized thing or your phone. I have mint now. Why would you need this for mint running out? Is it so you can get the cheaper plan from mint as a new user?

How long these SIM cards valid (for activation). I am locked in with Mint for some time and need to consider if worth switching. I barely use my phone for calls and even that $20 pm looks like a waste.TIA
