The 11th Gen WERE shipping during BF, but the deals were only on the 10th Gen.
Huge Generational Difference.
The SCREEN on this laptop is actually a quality screen in both NITS and Resolution.
The BF deals did not have this quality screen....
The BUILD Quality for the mid-tier laptops, this is a high-quality build with better chassis, keyboard, trackpad, etc.. etc....
The SSDs were smaller on bottom-tier....
And no....In General, there were not any long-standing deals for any i5s at $300. Perhaps a 5-minute deal, but those were the older i3s....Any i5 deal that was not OOS in under 5minutes for the i5 was closer to $350.
And if you are lucky to have the AMEX deal, then this is only $420....
Blowing away even BF deals if you have the AMEX deal.

I wonder if there's any way around that?
Dell does manufacture this same laptop in a different color, called "eden", that comes with a black keyboard. Seems to be sold o my in india. (See link below.)
So I wonder if it would be possible to replace the silver keyboard with a black one.
Or am I missing something?

Dell sell them for $54 but don't have them in stock. Since for me it's a gift and I couldn't wait for dells stock I bought a similar Crucial off Amazon for $46. The only difference is that it was 1rx8 which shouldn't make a difference in real life.

At night would be fine I'm sure, but my concern is in a brightly lit office. Seems to me that even with the backlight off, the white on silver renders the keyboard nearly invisible.
Dell sell them for $54 but don't have them in stock. Since for me it's a gift and I couldn't wait for dells stock I bought a similar Crucial off Amazon for $46. The only difference is that it was 1rx8 which shouldn't make a difference in real life.
I have had my share of "cheap" laptop (1 or 2) in the past, but this track pad is very annoying when I right click. I have high tolerance and don't complaint often of things are not up the mark, but this right click noise on the track pad is annoying AF to hear AND use.
