You can get up to 10 lines on AT&T prepaid [att.com] for $140. Lines 4 to 10 are just $10 each. Each line includes 5GB data. Rollover Data, Mobile hotspot, Unlimited Voice and Text. This is such a good deal, I am not sure why it is not talked about more. You can buy discounted AT&T Prepaid gift cards to save even more, (these deals are posted on SD regularly.) I believe you also save on taxes by paying with the gift cards.

1 Line 5GB - $30
2 Lines 5GB - $50
3 Lines 5GB - $70
4 Lines 5GB - $80
5 Lines 5GB - $90
6 Lines 5GB - $100
7 Lines 5GB - $110
8 Lines 5GB - $120
9 Lines 5GB - $130
10 Lines 5GB - $140

Details:
AT&T prepaid works a little differently, in the fact that you do not just have 1 account for all the lines. This was very confusing to me at first.

This is the way AT&T describes it:
Step 1: Buy and activate new lines individually
Step 2 Chosen account owner signs into myAT&T
Step 3 Select Multi-Line Discount within myAT&T
  • This is the Key step, you must select BUSINESS Account here, this allows the option of lines 6 to 10. (There is not check for business or anything like that)
Step 4 Follow the prompts to invite member lines
Step 5 Enroll in AutoPay and pay for all lines

The account owner pays for all the lines, and the individual accounts can login and see their usage, etc… This is helpful since some on my account are not in my household.

I was on Cricket Grandfather plan of 5 lines for $100 (8mbit version, since AIO days,) I needed to remove someone and add another person, but could not because I would lose the grandfathered plan. I also could not change that data allotment for anyone for the same reasons, and I really needed Mobile Hotspot. On AT&T prepaid you can have 1 person on 15GB, one on Unlimited as needed, but obviously you would need to pay more.
My first line was a direct port from T-Mobile, I used the AT&T website and had a SIM card sent to me (Free), I got this line setup first, and it became the "Account Owner." Then you setup this line for "Multiline discount" and select that it is a "BUSINESS ACCOUNT"

Note 1: For the Cricket conversions, I went to an AT&T store (Corporate apparently works better), and they transitioned the phone numbers to AT&T Prepaid. Note: They cannot do it all in one quick move, each line has to be done individually, and create an individual AT&T account. You MAY have to pay a $15 fee for this, but I did not have to pay.

Note 2: After Rollover Data, you do have 128KBS data for the rest of the month. I never thought the 8mbit speed cap on Cricket was that bad, but I do notice that things will load a little faster on AT&T Prepaid, since it is not speed capped. Obviously downloading large files will be much faster on AT&T than cricket, but I don't do that too often on a Cell phone. I also find that AT&T Wifi-Calling works better than Cricket (I have all iPhones) but is YMMV)

Question: Does AT&T allow Wi-Fi calling on all (Unlocked) devices or does it need to be ATT prepaid branded ? Cricket WiFi calling on not supported unless you buy from them. This is critical for me.
Answer: Yes and No, looks like it depends on the phone/brand/provider etc. Based on replies from community below are are answers:
1. "I just ported over my Note 8 that is a T-mobile branded device but I got it unlocked. I have no Wifi calling or VoLTE. At first I noticed a worse call quality and I finally noticed that my data service goes to 3g when I'm on a call. Apparently there is a workaround if you flash your device firmware to make it look like a factory AT&T device but even that isnt guaranteed to solve it from what I've read."
2. "I'm currently on a prepaid AT&T service. I use a Google Pixel 3 Verizon (unlocked) phone and I'm able to have WiFi calling on when the cell reception is non-existent. No issues."

at&t prepaid customer service is almost non-existent. The at&t store will not be able to help with majority of prepaid customer issues. The at&t store is there for postpaid customers. Expect long wait when calling prepaid hotline and unhelpful phone rep - they don't do call you back when it's busy instead they keep you on hold so you'll get annoyed and give up. Keep an eye on your bill - at&t is notorious for billing errors, most of the time in their favor.

I wanted to rewrite the steps needed if you're in a situation similar to the one I was in, it is time consuming but I managed to get things done.

I went from Cricket Grandfathered plan to this plan here, I opened a business line with up to 10 lines, I am the main account holder on AT&T Prepaid now. My family is divided into 2 states and 5 lines. This is how I managed to get everything done, and it gets more seamless now that I am finished with everything.

I ordered 5 sim cards on the website and added the $30 plan to each one of them. I put in the cricket mobile number that I wanted to migrate over because everyone wanted to keep their original phone #.

I added credit card info and they charged me $5 per sim card, I had them ship 2 to my house, and 3 to the other state where my family resided.

When I received my sim cards, I went ahead and activated my own number first by calling the # that is on the brochure they slip into the package, it is the number that says if you have trouble call this number for help. (866-975-0050)

It helps to know what to tell the representative when you're making the call. For the first one I told them I was having trouble migrating my phone number from Cricket Prepaid to AT&T Prepaid. Gave them my ICCID, phone number, and IMEI of phone, they already had the rest of the info for my Cricket account and pin. Once they activated this line I had them charge to the card I originally entered to buy the sims for $30 all this was handled with the rep on the phone.

I went online and created my account with the temporary pin, made this my mainline for the multiline plan, signed up for multiline business (you can choose personal if that's what you need) and kept the details ready.

From here I told the rep I would like to migrate my 2nd line over, the rest of these steps are rinse and repeat, but to make sure the rep knew exactly what I wanted to do I told them "I would like to add another line to my multiline account, this line is being migrated over from Cricket prepaid, and I would like to have this line activated but do not charge the credit card on file until after I add them to my multiline account so I can get a discounted rate. (If you manage to get charged the $30 for another line they cannot reimburse you the discounted rate, but they can migrate the credits over so you'd get a month of service at the $30 rate, this happened to me on my 2nd line add, which is why I am telling you that you need to be precise with your request)

So with line 2 through 5 this is what the rep will need and what they will do.

- Ask for the following info ICCID, IMEI # of phone, and phone number that you need to migrate.
- After they do their thing for about 15 minutes the line gets migrated over to the sim with no service.
- They will then need to send this phone a text message with a pin number to create an account, you may need to restart phone to get the connection to the tower for the text message to appear.
- Go on the computer and using the temporary pin create an account and new password + pin
- This is the point where you can finally use the main account holder's multiline plan to send an invitation to the 2 - 5 lines, where they can accept this invitation via the web browser.
- After each line accepts the request or wait til all 4 lines are added, you can then make the payment for the services via the main line holder's account.

I know this is a long write up, but hopefully paying it forward that this will save some people time and countless questions. If all went well this should only take an hour, but because I had so much trial and error and having to order a second set of sim cards, this took $25 extra dollars in sim cards, $30 over charge because my 2nd line they auto charged the card, and also had to wait another 2 days for new sim cards to arrive.

I like this plan vs the Cricket one, and I'm happy with it.
Cricket has a business plan that has always included all tax in the monthly price. AT&T prepaid does NOT.

AT&T pre-paid on autopay with a credit card will indeed add taxes and fees. For some reason the AT&T prepaid system does not add taxes and fees if you have a sufficient gift card balance that covers the monthly fee when it comes due.

As for taxes at Target and Kroger on phone gift cards, that varies by state. My state and obviously yours do not add taxes. However if you read these threads when Target or Kroger offer the discounted cards by email, you will read multiple posts about how this or that member in various states has taxes added to their gift card purchases.
So I use 8 lines and resell 2 lines and now have a business?

why do you even need to call att support?

att prepaid activations google it can have you setup a sim card with a number
Is listed pricing of 4 plans, 5 gb/month, still good for $80 for all four lines on AT&T prepaid?

I've tried VZW prepaid, de-prioritization is really bad.

Is there $15 activation/line before the accounts are merged

once merged, is it flat 140 ever month? or taxes are extra?
Is the account eligible for 25% discount for nurse, physician etc?

No activation fee but you will lose any paid service when joining a group, then need to pay again for the new service. So in a sense that you could pay twice if you merge on a wrong date.

If there is a balance on your account, they take it out without tax, credit payment will add tax.

Probably the cheapest you will get, no other discount.

to those who have gone from ATT postpaid to prepaid:

When you paid $30 for your main line and then got 3+ more lines activated in the AT&T store, how long if any are the other 3+ lines inactive (no phone service) until they get invited to join and then the main acct. owner pays for all the lines in the account ; i.e., do the activated lines retain the old postpaid service until moved to prepaid? ? ?

thanks in advance

Got this via text "Hi it's AT&T. Starting 10/10, there will be changes to multi-line accounts. You will not be able to change plans or add new members to a business (10 line) account. New accounts will be a max of 5 lines and you can create or join an account once every 365 days." Not sure what this really means, and the 10 member account will be grandfathered or need to be split into 2 groups now?

I got this too. Seems like another cost-cutting measure to prevent too many lines from getting $20 discount each. Creating a separate multi-line after 5 lines means discounts reset. Potential loss off $40 in discounts.
