I believe if you don't want AppleCare, you can still buy the device and call Apple and have it removed from your account and get a refund. This has been mentioned on previous posts, but I have no experience with us.

For TMO, you just need to have a debit card on file. You can pay with CC before your auto pay debit is scheduled.

If you go onto the Costco website, there is a opportunity to trade in your device. They will not count the value of your device against the purchase price. They will send you a Costco card.

I have done it before, but I think it is not always Guaranteed and may not get the full $200 back.

Unlocked means any carrier, including international. All the iPhones have been compatible with Verizon for years now
