How does this compare to getting an UV lamp and an OLED TV to watch beaches in the Maldives?

We do the Maldives frequently and love it. Wouldn't pay this much for 5 nights (we use points), but it's for the best that this does not include airfare. That's a hard trip to make in economy. Keep in mind you'd likely need a charter once you arrive in Male. Airfare can be expensive and even if you're booking with miles, you'll still be paying out of pocket for the charter to whichever island you stay at.

If you're going all the way out there, don't cheap out and forego an overwater villa. Beach villas are great but overwaters allow for snorkeling right out your back door.

If you're looking to explore some nature, fly in to LV and drive a few hours to get to southern Utah. Easy to spend a week there between Zion, Bryce, Arches, Capitol Reef, Canyonlands, and a ton of other amazing parts of the outdoors.
yes thinking of doing it this summer from AZ

For the same amount of money, you can live like a king in Thailand for couple weeks. There are plenty of beautiful islands in South Asia. I wouldn't go to Maldives unless you have money to burn or you absolutely need a once in a lifetime experience.

The airfare costs more than the resort.
And that assumes you don't mind flying half way around the world in economy.
I guess this is a bargain for someone who was already going to be in the Maldives. Even then, it's an extra $1k for the sea plane.

That 3K overwater villa you have to add the $150 per night surcharge, plus 22% service charge and local taxes is already $4,410. This doesn't even factor in the flight to the main island and charter/boat ride to whatever island.

The deal says hotel taxes and fees are included. Only thing not included is $6/day "green tax" and the seaplane transfer ($455 round trip per adult)

I never understand resort fees? Why not just build it in the price?

I kind of get expensive resort fees, in the sense of deceptively advertising a lower price. But $6? You can't build $6 into the cost of the hotel?

Economy for that long? You into BDSM?
I flew from Los Angeles to Narita in economy. Which was longer. It was fine and I only got up once to use the bathroom.

Keep in mind there are huge sharks all over maldives. For ppl that might be too scared of that. I see many sharks come right to shore. I scuba dive there.

Only good if you are taking couple of weeks off. Jet lag is about 2 days. Flight is about 30+ hours. Recommend going to srilanka from there and may be to south east asia. Avoid any transfer over in India since it's covid central.

How about adding a 4 year old?

//update: looked at the link . Kids up to 4 are free without additional charges. Nice!
children ages 5-11 are an additional $150 per room, per night on same all-inclusive plan, with extra bed and tax, payable directly at hotel

Totally agreed. We've done the same in years past for a similar experience at a fraction of the cost.

There are flights from LAX from $806 and $816 from JFK right now. I wouldn't expect the fares to last long.
Which airlines?

It's not a common vacation spot to most of the people you know. So when you get back they'll have to sit through your photo slide presentation and won't be able to interrupt with a funny story of when they were there.

That's basically what you're paying 8k extra for. Don't get me wrong it's gorgeous, white sand, turquoise water, tropical fish, friendly locals and unique cultures but when it comes down to it you could've gone to the Caribbean faster for a lot cheaper.

You'll still get all the same things I listed but chances are Dave from the office has been there too and you might even bump into Karen from HR.
