How does this compare to getting an UV lamp and an OLED TV to watch beaches in the Maldives?

We do the Maldives frequently and love it. Wouldn't pay this much for 5 nights (we use points), but it's for the best that this does not include airfare. That's a hard trip to make in economy. Keep in mind you'd likely need a charter once you arrive in Male. Airfare can be expensive and even if you're booking with miles, you'll still be paying out of pocket for the charter to whichever island you stay at.

If you're going all the way out there, don't cheap out and forego an overwater villa. Beach villas are great but overwaters allow for snorkeling right out your back door.

It's a rough flight… but totally worth it. And then they hit you with the 45 dollar Pad Thai and 80 Steak. Ugh…
Note: I know it's all inclusive so it's better.

For those asking about the flight, I would highly advise checking out the ANA around the world ticket. Not well known, but you could fly JFK-DUBAI-MALDIVES-SINGAPORE-LAX for about 115,000 miles...all in business class. And get like 3 vacations in one if you have the time.

Maldives is overrated. Philippines and thailand are just as good and also have private island resorts. Stayed 2 years ago with 5 free nights with points. The jfk to male tickets were like 1300 each + male to island which was 260 each or something like that. This was for the conrad. I'm not sure if other resorts have cheaper transfers.

Edit. Found it and I paid 590 pp rt seaplane.
>A normal combined round trip seaplane transfer cost US$ 590 per person inclusive of all tax

My child has been on multiple 14-16 hour flights to Asia just fine (hint: Benadryl and iPad) and loves beaches and the water?
Yes, every parent thinks their child is the best behaved, the smartest, the best looking, etc.... Has it occurred to you that some adults see these destinations as adult destinations and are actually trying to get away from every day living, which may include the piercing scream of a child?

How about adding a 4 year old?

//update: looked at the link . Kids up to 4 are free without additional charges. Nice!
Not a place to take a 4 year old, this is a place for adults. Nothing for kids to do it'll be a nightmare. Go to Disney.

Sounds great but i will get bored as hell sitting on a beach for more than 1 day. But it does seem like a sweet deal.

The key for these short trips is to adjust to the time in advance. You may have to stay up all night or get a Rx for Ambien to sleep on the flight but adjust in advance so you arrive feeling like you're in local time.

Have always practiced this and yes, I travel for work until pandemic hit us. Within the country, I always set my body clock to my home (living in east coast helps a lot) so that my wife is not unhappy when I return and be oblivious to whats happening at home

For those that think 5 nights is too short, what with the jet lag and the time to get there, you can, as Travelzoo's website says:

"Add extra nights to your stay from $579 per night"

That's the same price as the deal on a nightly basis, so you can extend your stay to whatever number of days makes for your idea of a reasonably long vacation.

Was thinking the same thing. I've seen other posts about purchasing points at certain times to get a crazy deal too.

Get a couple Chase Sapphire cards and transfer points to Hyatt. Problem solved Wink

Or ya buying points can be worthwhile if you have a specific redemption in mind. Really though I have seen quite a few great deals on the Maldives. They aren't all $1k+/night. I mean do you really need a 900 sq ft villa or will a 500 sq ft one do? The all inclusive is nice though as food/drink can add up faaaaaaaast!
