Breathtaking? It's the same Nikon jpeg or raw files as any of their DX or FX format. I'm a fan of shooting jpeg + raw and sometimes the jpeg's are all I need. It almost always gets down to post processing that separates very good to wow.
Up to a point. If the person is shooting in Auto or Program, yes, I agree. But I shoot totally manual. When shooting, I like the D850 better, straight out of the camera. I guess I'm thinking landscape and people. I REALLY love my D850 for that then me D500. I had my D500 about two years before I got my D850. I do love my D500 too, more when I'm shooting a lot of action, for the buffering. I can take 200 pics in a row without blinking.

What's the best option to use as a WebCam?
Isn't this overkill? Couldn't you use an older Nikon or Sony or Canon for that?

Nikon doesn't have any macro lenses for Z mount yet, correct? Are there any good third-party Z-mount macro lenses?
105mm Z is coming out soon according to Nikonrumors (was supposed to be out already but they pushed it to make way for Z9). If you're not in urgent need it's probably better to wait for another few months.

Been shooting nikon for 25 years. Nikon stuff never goes on sale really. They have full price then one set of discounted prices you will occasionally see...but all vendors will sell at these prices. When you see lower prices the good are either A. Gray market or B. Being sold by BH or Adorama and they use the manufacturer incentives intended for the sales person to lower the price which is how they can sell "cheaper" but what they are really doing is taking money from their workers haha. The exception to this is when they are about to discontinue an item they will sell a bit cheaper.

I know everyone is wanting to go mirrorless camera but I highly recommend the D850. I have it and the pics are breathtaking! I did had the Nikon 17-55mm, F2.8 lens for my D500 but when I got the D850, I bought the 17-35mm, F2.8 for landscape, then bought the 24-70mm F2.8 G lens for regular use. Those lenses is amazing.
I still have D800 with tamron 24-70mm 2.8. Wondering if I should stick with the D800 or get D850.

That's a good question. I went from the D300s to the D500 to the D850. But lets compare:

D850 has 102 more focus points, 153, D800 has 51
D850 ISO starts at 64, D800 is 100
D850 ISO ends at 25,000, D800 ends at 6,400
D850 FPS is 7 (With bigger battery, 9fps), D800 is only 4fps in FX
D850 megapixels are 45, D800 is 36.
D850 has better battery life too.

Those are the major differences between the cameras. In my opinion, it's worth the jump!!

Totally acceptable. I had photos taken last Feb where the photography used a D2 camera. My skills are not that good so any upgrade i get helps.

I read something about twice a year sales in Japan for Nikon, Spring and Fall. I just bought a z5 two weeks ago and am not sure how often they happen.

Is that going to be significantly better than Z 85mm? I want to add a macro lens for close up of food shoots, I currently have Nikon Z6

Not sure if D780 would go down in price for the holiday season
Sure it'll probably go on sale, but do you really want to wait 6 months to find out?
