If you want to game, it's better to spend the extra $50 on the $600 HP that Walmart has.
https://www.walmart.com/ip/HP-Pav.../943933730

They are a Ryzen 3500 (6-core) with a GTS 1650 Super. A 1650 Super is roughly twice the graphical performance of a 5700G.

It looks like Walmart's website sells out of these very quickly and only 3rd party sellers are listed there. But if you can find them at your local store they are sold for $599.

Tell your mom to stay off the porn sites, they're known to have malware.

This is a very good deal as a business machine. Not for grad core gamers, though.
Agreed, very similar to the TP01-0066 with a 3700x that shows up here often and about the same price. I bought that machine for my home office and have been extremely happy with it.

How's the upgradeability on this?

Does the USB C port support display?

I have a 4700G machine. Super fast! This 5700g will be better. It is not for gamer, but more than enough for office use and streaming videos.

For what prices have been lately it looks like a good deal to me. Newest gen ryzen 7, not sure if it's better than i7 but I see a lot of i5 ryzen 5 for around this price. The 16gb is also nice for this price point. If I didn't want a gpu for additional strength I would probably get this. I still remember not long ago paying less and getting monitor, printer keyboard mouse. If this is your price point and your not a gamer "as in demanding games" then I would probably go for it.

I don't see any problem on programing with 4700g.

yes. the 5700G has 2 more cores than the 5600x so it's more like a gimped 5800x. I'd say it'll be as fast as the 5600x in most tasks and faster if it's a highly threaded task.
That is crazy. And so good to have some integrated graphics.

This CPU will be PLENTY fast for most educational projects. And with the GPU shortage, the integrated graphics on this will at least let someone limp by on low-medium gaming settings until GPU's become available again.

16gb MAY become a problem eventually, but it is enough to start. I like the fact that it's a 1x16gb stick so I assume that expansion to 32gb is easy.

I was excited about the specs until I saw the 16gb was single channel.

Esports titles and older games? Sure, at 1080p & low/medium.

New AAA games? Maybe, but at 720p & low.

Generally you'll want a discrete GPU for most PC gaming.

How about this instead?

Anyone see a good 16GB stick to add to this desktop?

This is so cheap . If a 5700G compares ok with a 5600x , it's like a $350 CPU in there. Is that a good comparison ?
It has a A LOT less cache: 35MB in the 5600x vs 20MB in the 5700G. As a result the 5700G will go out to the system RAM a lot more, in addition the iGPU will also be taxing system RAM. You'll want to get that second stick of ram in there ASAP for dual channel... also consider pricier dual rank kits as this machine's mobo only takes two sticks and dual rank provides even more benefit if taxing system ram a lot. That said the price comparison is apt, the two processors provide similar value.
