From a Costco review that does not recommend this product:
"Warning. This is the lowest temperature Le Creuset model. Many dutch oven recipes call for oven temperatures above it's 400 degree maximum."

Edit: just the knob is rated to 400, the rest is standard 500.

I think this may be an alternative product at a prior deal just for research/consideration: https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/t/14671865

The replaceable knob is temp rated to 400 degrees. The Dutch oven is temp fine to 500 degrees.

Replacement knobs are about $15-20, which is a great deal!

As others pointed out, upgrading the knob to SS (for about $25) will let you get this as hot as you want. Le Creuset cast iron is not rated for heat, only the knob. You can exceed 500F once you get the SS knob.

Word of advice, get a SS knob one size larger than stated. The SS knobs run slightly smaller than the black ones.

Also, a "Wide Round" 6.75qt was on sale for $250, 11.75" diameter, 4" high:

If you don't care about the height, go for the Costco one.

Any reason not to get a generic one for $6, other than the lack of a brand name on it?

No reason not to, but I would look at this as an opportunity to trick your dutch oven out and personalize. I put this pineapple knob on mine: https://www.williams-sonoma.com/p...imal-knob/

I haven't seen this pot before, but based off the Le Creuset website, they recommend the Large (which is the biggest size they offer).
