Daughter getting the iPhone12. What's opinion on best options for accident insurance on these things? Her last phone was through Costco and got their plan, but now direct through TMo. I don't worry about insurance but she does. Thanks

I believe some credit cards actually offer phone insurance for sure if you make payments with the card. However I never claimed such benefits so I don't know how they actually work.
Won't work with this deal as you have to purchase through EIP. I see UPSIE is pretty reasonable, but not sure if better deal to just have her get AppleCare.

AppleCare is the best insurance for iPhones. Don't pay for carrier insurance. You'll have 60 days to buy AppleCare after activating the phone.
Certain credit cards provide phone insurance if you charge the monthly phone bill to the card.

Then they'll screw you over by saying your phone isn't worth the full amount when you send it via mail. Back in 2016 is the last time I've done one of these deals, sent in a mint iPhone 6 and was only given 1/3 of the trade in offer.
I've had 2 idiotic episodes with Ass-urant. One was an S4 trade in for the S9 I use now several years ago. The other was just this week with my iphone 3G being traded in for the 5g A32 garbage Android phone (it's free, why not). Both times I received notices after it was received that my Tmobile promo had ended due to losing eligibility.

Fortunately I videoed both phones being packed, because these instances are rampant. T-force was able to restore both promos. I would have been livid otherwise.

I dont get it, how is this a "deal"?

You need to activate a brand new line, pay for a brand new phone, give up your old phone and then get the money back incrementally over the next 2 years which is basically a 2-year contract despite no contract.
yes you dont get it

You don't need to open a new line. You can get an iphone 8 for around $150 and with tax your cost for an iphone 12 is around $200. I'd say it's a pretty good deal.

Share some useful information about turning off Find My Device (quoted from T-Mobile official instructions for trade-in process). There have been confusions and hope this help:

Find My iPhone
Before returning your device, disable the security feature Find My iPhone®
The simplest way to disable this feature is to perform a factory master reset from the settings menu.
Important! Performing a factory reset will erase all content, so verify backups have completed prior to taking this step.

Will I be able to unlock the phone if I pay it off early? Will the monthly credit continue rolling if I pay it off?

Yes, and yes. They will unlock your phone after 40 days, and if it's paid off.

Is there any advantage to doing the trade-in in store vs purchasing online and shipping in the trade-in phone? My concern is that in store, they can tell me the value of trade-in I'd be getting and be able to explain it. I'm wondering if I ship in the trade-in phone, would T-mobile just be able to assign whatever BS value they want and that's that?
