Up to 830 is because if you buy 12mini it will have trade in credit or only $730 and not $830 and it you buy 12pro or pro max then you will only get $830 and rest will be on you. That's what upto $830 means so yes iPhone 8 will get you upto $830 depending on the device you choose
Where is Costco? They use to have similar deal as Tmobile but not lately. Wonder if we didn't kill the golden goose by canceling "new line" after getting the rebate.
For those of you trying to get a phone from SWAPPA like a iPhone 8 or S9 series, make sure you do order from an individual seller where the item/images clearly display the listing number.

In that case it's a unique listing offer and the IMEI will be displayed on the sales page right after your purchase. If you order good quality or spend $10 more for mint you should be golden. Once purchased on the sales page you will see the serial number (IMEI):

If you order from an enterprise seller with generic images and none displays the unique listing number the IMEI will NOT show up and you may have to wait until they are back in the office on Monday and the deal could be over.

Off topic, so feel free to keep scrolling, but people here seem pretty knowledgeable......when it comes to protection for your iPhone, do you use 360 or pay for AppleCare separately? Seems like AppleCare is slightly cheaper and would have lower deductibles?

I had a trade in phone rejected a few years back that the store had accepted. It matters not what the store tells you. Even if it gets damaged in shipping (which happened to a few people on old deals and threads) your phone will get denied as a valid trade in.
I heard this numerous times in the other offer thread as well.

It sucks being a Sprint customer that got lumped in with TMo. No new customer discounts. Still got a month left to pay off four phones and while this might be open to existing customers, I doubt there's a similar deal in the future until the Fall.

Nothing wrong with our S10s and XS Maxs but the FOMO is definitely there.

Seems sketchy to not list that extra credit anywhere. As the discount only says you get the $830 with the trade in and not more.
I agree. That should be stated explicitly on the checkout page.

Let's hope they have a Father's Day deal which is similar to this

Not bad, but too bad it is via credits and not like VZN instant discount
For many of us, we're already holding the credits for the free A32s so hey, what's another credit 😅

I switched from at&t to Sprint to take advantage of free Amazon prime yearly membership and slightly lower bill. Will I lose anything if / when I fully switch to T-Mobile (sim) from Sprint? Hopefully seamless. I have an iPhone 8plus, was going to wait for the next gen iPhone...but might take advantage of this offer.
I just switched last month after a ton of research. I'm on a Sprint SWAC Premium plan. You basically lose three things:
  • Sprint roaming. Sprint has roaming agreements with a ton of other carriers (including Verizon). So if you're frequently in areas with weak T-Mobile and Sprint service, but good roaming service, you may get better service sticking with a Sprint SIM. Switching to a T-Mobile SIM means you lose access to all those roaming agreements.
  • Maybe hotspot speed. The regular SWAC hotspot service works fine. But the SWAC Premium hotspot service was supposedly coded in their computers wrong, and immediately defaulted to deprioritized mode (2G speeds - pretty much unusable). That was what I experienced when I first switched in late March. Someone said temporarily dropping Premium for a day, then adding it back fixed it (make sure you do it away from your monthly end date so you don't lose Amazon Prime). I finally got around to trying it in late April, but when I tested the hotspot speed before changing my plan, it was working fine. So I guess they fixed it. But just be aware this sort of thing could happen.
  • Access to certain Sprint towers. Apparently T-Mobile hasn't set up their PRL to include Sprint towers as valid for roaming. So if you're in an area with weak T-Mobile service but good Sprint service, you may be stuck with the poor T-Mobile service. Some people have claimed roaming on Sprint towers works fine for them, so it may depend on the specific Sprint tower you're trying to access.
There are three levels of T-Mobile service for Sprint customers.
  • Sprint. Basically you're still on Sprint and only Sprint. You have a Sprint SIM, and your phone and plan continue to operate as before. No access to the T-Mobile network. T-Mobile has said they'll keep Sprint customers on their legacy plans for at least 2 more years. So you have that long before you need to worry about switching. This service will slowly deteriorate as T-Mobile shuts down or transfers Sprint towers. They've already switched off Sprint's 4G band 41 service (the frequency has been repurposed for T-Mobile 5G).
  • TNA (T-Mobile Network Access). This is the in-between option. You're still on Sprint and still have a Sprint SIM. But you get access to T-Mobile towers for roaming. There isn't much information on this so I was a bit fuzzy on the details. You'll have to research it yourself if you want more info.
  • TNX (T-Mobile Network Experience). This is basically switching entirely to T-Mobile. You get a T-Mobile SIM, and your plan gets switched to a T-Mobile plan coded with the same features as your original Sprint plan. The only way it's still Sprint is that your billing and account management is still handled via the Sprint website. Which has the unfortunate side-effect of meaning that you cannot upgrade phones outside of a T-Mobile store or online/phone customer service. Places like Costco and Best Buy won't be able to access your account to transfer your service to the new phone, since they've shut down the Sprint kiosks.

I did it through Costco.

Purchased 2x iphone 8 from nearby phone seller for $360.
Tax with costco in NYC = $150 for both iphone 12's.

Total = $510 but I am going to sell the two iPhone XR's that I am currently using so I should be pocketing around $30-40 after selling the iPhone XR's. Only purchased the iPhone 8's because they were are cheaper than the XR's. Also, Costco has a $30 cash card for every phone you buy so I am getting $60 for both phones.
which costco did you go to?

All postpaid T-Mobile plans should be eligible. What plan are you on?
And does the offer show up when you try checking out online?

Hi, sorry if these are stupid questions:

Do they take the phone you're trading in upfront? They give you confirmation/tracking for that? I was reading a review of someone who gave them their phone and then never got the credits for it b/c it got lost or something.

Also, if you're not a Costco member, can you still use those cash cards?
U caN use Costco cards without membership...they will cAll in manager to allow u to use without membership....but they won't sell phone Without membership....

The very first line says this:

Have a qualifying line of service on an eligible plan.

I guess you dont have a eligible plan.

bad idea. you should have bought an iphone 8 and traded that in. you would've saved $200.
