Up to 830 is because if you buy 12mini it will have trade in credit or only $730 and not $830 and it you buy 12pro or pro max then you will only get $830 and rest will be on you. That's what upto $830 means so yes iPhone 8 will get you upto $830 depending on the device you choose
Where is Costco? They use to have similar deal as Tmobile but not lately. Wonder if we didn't kill the golden goose by canceling "new line" after getting the rebate.
For those of you trying to get a phone from SWAPPA like a iPhone 8 or S9 series, make sure you do order from an individual seller where the item/images clearly display the listing number.

In that case it's a unique listing offer and the IMEI will be displayed on the sales page right after your purchase. If you order good quality or spend $10 more for mint you should be golden. Once purchased on the sales page you will see the serial number (IMEI):

If you order from an enterprise seller with generic images and none displays the unique listing number the IMEI will NOT show up and you may have to wait until they are back in the office on Monday and the deal could be over.

How does the device data transfer work for the trade ? Do they do it at the store ? Or do Apple backup to pc or something factory wipe and then take it in for trade ?
I suggest doing a back up of your personal phone at your home before going to do the deal.

It's very time consuming if a customer has a phone with lots of data to be saved up.

If tmobile takes your trade in on the spot, you have to wipe that phone before you give it to them.

Account level? Then we can cancel the line and still get credit?
That I'm not sure about. My credits are all on the free lines so I've never tried cancelling. But I would say probably not.

Actually the stores are not charging $10 sim fee anymore but do charge $20 support charge, which you may be able to get credited back to account through cs.

Costco will do what is called direct delivery to home where they will put you on eip so you are eligible for this offer, to boot they will give you a $30 cash card via mail after ~90 days. This gives Costco the edge without any $20 support charge.
What would be the reason to give to CS in order to get $20 support charge back ?

Based on the below, I would assume you would lose the credit if you cancel the line.

How Recurring Device Credits (RDC) work
To receive Recurring Device Credits (RDC), you must purchase your device on EIP and meet any other requirements of the promotion.
You may have one Recurring Device Credits (RDC) promo per line at a time. To get a new Recurring Device Credits (RDC) promo and keep your current credit, you must pay off the existing EIP first.
If you pay off your EIP early, you'll continue to receive the promised Recurring Device Credits (RDC) as an account-level credit through the remaining months of the promotional credit period (up to 24 or 36 months).
Additionally, you can't pay off an EIP by deducting the remaining Recurring Device Credits (RDC) installments from the remaining EIP balance. The full EIP balance must be paid to close out the plan.
It can take up to two bill cycles for your Recurring Device Credits (RDC) to appear on your bill. If you don't see the credit on the first bill, you'll receive two credits on your next bill.
If the Recurring Device Credits (RDC) promo is greater than your EIP payment, you'll see two credits on your bill; one credit for the same amount of as your EIP charge and a second for the balance of the remaining promotional credit.
Recurring Device Credits (RDC) can't be sped up to pay off your device faster.
If you cancel your T-Mobile service, you'll lose any remaining Recurring Device Credits (RDC), and all remaining EIP balances become due immediately.

The promo is tie to each line that you have it on. So if you cut it off then you lose everything

Has anyone on the Essentials 55+ plan been able to get in on this offer?
Same question. Does the 2 lines for $60 - age 55 and up plan qualify for this deal?

It was done in the store for me over wireless. Took almost 1.5 hours for about 100 gb.

This is false. Your credits become account level and you'll still get them.
Wondering if it is documented somewhere on T-Mobile web site? I had bad experiences for fighting back to T-Mobile for missing promotions. As far as it is mentioned somewhere about the account level credits, I can bite this deal.

😂it's crazy that people don't back up their phones prior to going. I stopped by a T-Mobile before I went to Costco and a few teens were there. The rep was like "it shows here you haven't backed up your phone since 2019" with an annoyed tone knowing how long this process takes
