Up to 830 is because if you buy 12mini it will have trade in credit or only $730 and not $830 and it you buy 12pro or pro max then you will only get $830 and rest will be on you. That's what upto $830 means so yes iPhone 8 will get you upto $830 depending on the device you choose

Where is Costco? They use to have similar deal as Tmobile but not lately. Wonder if we didn't kill the golden goose by canceling "new line" after getting the rebate.

For those of you trying to get a phone from SWAPPA like a iPhone 8 or S9 series, make sure you do order from an individual seller where the item/images clearly display the listing number.

In that case it's a unique listing offer and the IMEI will be displayed on the sales page right after your purchase. If you order good quality or spend $10 more for mint you should be golden. Once purchased on the sales page you will see the serial number (IMEI):

If you order from an enterprise seller with generic images and none displays the unique listing number the IMEI will NOT show up and you may have to wait until they are back in the office on Monday and the deal could be over.

Well, instead of trading in my SE2 for just $530, I went and ordered an unlocked mint 8 on Swappa for $227. Assuming it's legit and no issues, I'm trading it in for the $830 amount to get a 12. The IMEI was on the sale page so I used it when submitting the T-Mobile trade. Can then just sell the SE2 for same or more than I paid for the 8.

Bought an 8 for $200 off marketplace, traded it in, and got the 12 pro max with $830 credit, same line. Thank you!

Hello,

On Swappa, where, or what to look for after input IMEI? TIA

I do not see any comments anywhere
I was bugging the seller to post it in Comments, but the Swappa staff pointed out that it's listed under Serial Number.

The devices can be carrier locked but cannot have any outstanding money owed on them. The must be paid in full and clear of any financial obligations or will be denied.
So the carriers share that information with each other? Because online IMEI checkers will show "allowed" on phones with balances, just whether it's blacklisted or not.

Correct. That's where I found it for my purchase and what I used to submit the trade info to T-Mobile. Better match the phone I actually get of course!

If you went to the store, the promo will show up online on a few hours. If you did it online, it will take longer. Mine showed up 3 hours after I left the store.
Is yours showing up as a "0" as the name of the promo? Mine does but does have the T574 on the details.

Don't do what I did today. I almost threw my laptop AND my existing iPhone 11 Pro over the absolute waste of time spent on this F$%#! deal.

1.) Study the math on the T-Mobile offer to determine how they're applying the credits
2.) Attempt a trade-in with my existing iPhone 11 Pro, realizing I can do so with a far cheaper device
3.) Attempt to locate a cheaper device, but none remain with friends or family
4.) Purchase an iPhone 8 on Swappa to apply to the trade, but not receive the IMEI because it was from an Enterprise Seller, who are not required to disclose said IMEI
5.) Register an account on SD and post about it, realizing everyone here has already purchased the remaining "cheap" eligible phones from individual accounts using Seller 2.0 on Swappa. You guys always beat out someone like myself who takes far too much time to study the deal.

I just wasted $230 and am going to walk away from this opportunity, despite having two eligible lines for the purchase. Absolute waste of a few hours today.

You can 1) look on ebay for sellers who list the imei in the listing for iphone 8 or galaxy s9/s9+. Screen burn in is fine as long as no dead spots (no black spots on screen).
or 2) you can do the trade in with an imei from a different phone like the one you purchased and try to get t-force to correcct the imei before you send the phone in.... if you made a mistake and gave the wrong iimei, t-force likely can help you correct that.

I have the same promo name as you, but the text I received from TMobile has the correct promo name.

I did the same thing for one my trades. Not sure what kind of price SE2 will bring locally, but I am guessing I will ultimately come out ahead by selling the SE2 and trading the 8 I bought on Swappa. Maybe another SE2 deal is in the cards, but it usually is undervalued in these T-mobile promos anyway.
