Not likely. It said value up to $79.99. Most, if not all, brushless tools are $99 or above.

Same thing at my local HD. Not the brushless version.
will be honest, I dont see a point in brushless with the bush trimmer. mine eats everything I put to it, im talking pretty large diameter branches.

imo, get whatever is best deal, both will do exact same thing.

I picked up a 40V Pole saw at Home Depot last weekend for $29 on the clearance rack. I'm hoping to find a battery deal to go with it.

thank you for the find.
PS for those who are too quick to jump on the deals before doing research.... these are old-style clunky batteries and the tools are NOT brushless.

again, thank you for the find, OP

I think most people would prefer the larger 4 mAh battery vs the smaller 1.5 mAh battery. Why would I prefer the smaller battery? Larger battery is a PRO. The larger battery will supply longer lasting battery. As for brushless? Very expensive tools and won't be able to find it at this low price. Is it needed for most people and worth the extra? Probably not.

I've got a couple of 2.0 Ah batteries that are already overkill on my drill/driver. As a mere homeowner, I pretty much never need more than that for hand tools, so the extra weight and size of larger batteries would be a drawback. The 4.0 Ah batteries work great for gardening tools which tend to see much more extended use.

Agreed. We did two bathroom renovations and I only have 4 and 6ah batteries. Hanging cement board got tiring using those in the driver and I was wishing I had smaller batteries.

I think that's mostly right for a tool not used daily. That's the case for most of us who are DIY and home fix it people.

IMHO, it really depends on the tool and usage. I'd say for the vast majority of activities (light screw driving, simple drilling, thin wood cutting) it's not going to matter much. HOWEVER, when it does matter, it matters a lot.

Let me explain. I went brushless on the circular saw for this exact reason, if you're ripping a lot of boards, particularly if they're 2" or thicker, the brushless makes a massive difference both in terms of how long it will take and, more importantly, IF the tool can actually get the job done. This also comes into play with the driver. There are times when my brushed just can't go any further and then my P238 can just eat that job up.

Having said that, I'm looking at a wall of roughly 20 Ryobi tools and of those, I think I really only need brushless on 3-4. I'm also just a lightweight DIYer, so don't take any of this to apply to major construction/pro users.

Again, just my 2 cents, LOVE Ryobi, and there are a ton of Youtube videos if you're considering a specific application. Good luck!

let me tell you, I have the older one, Not brushless, but its an absolute beast. shreds through all my bushes/shrubs without hesitation.
I have an older one, it has worked well for most trimming, but the front handle kept loosening up on my. 2 years ago I got the newer one with the rotating blade. It is much better, and seems to be stronger - doesn't get jammed near as often as I remember, but it is heavier. Longer trimming blade and the motor/battery section is heavier as well.

Mine is rotating too. The handle pivots from the blade. I don't think mines brushless thouth

Looking for the edger but it isn't on the list.
The edger is well worth it. I bought it a couple years ago when my old 24V one died. Seems to me the new edger does a better job, and super convenient having the same batteries. I hated having a single dedicated battery for just the one tool.

What battery will last longer in the future? 4 mAh or 1.5 mAh battery? It is fact that the larger 4 mAh battery will last many years longer than a small 1.5 mAh battery. Larger battery means longer run time and longer lasting in years. Lot of the power tools in this deal are 2 handed tools too so the benefit of being compact or light weight isn't much..... I would much rather have a 4 mAh battery with 2 handed tools from the ad like the circular saw, angle grinder, jigsaw, reciprocating saw, hedger, leaf blower, pruning chainsaw, bluetooth speaker (no hands), light is better with larger battery, etc..

The idea with this type of battery deal is that the customer will buy many other tools to use with the batteries or a great deal for a person who is already into the Ryobi ecosystem. Ryobi knows what they are doing with these battery deals to hook a customer in buying many tools. I wouldn't order the drill in this deal. If I were to do this deal, I would later order a 5 or 6 combo ryobi deal that already includes the drill with couple 1.5 mAh batteries because those great deals with the drill come around more often..... A battery operated hedger looks good to me as I am using electric hedger and don't like a cord hanging while I am on a ladder. I am not sure if I want to replace my Craftsman gas powered trimmer with Poulan attachments (edger and blower) for battery operated tools yet. It seems very expensive with the Ryobi lawn tools compared to what I paid for my Craftsman and Poulan attachments.

There are times that I like keeping the 2.0 battery on a tool, however I don't really find the larger batteries a drawback usually. In fact, I find the 4/6 batteries balance some tools better. I like it the larger batteries on the circular saw or router, for example.
