Been a while since I saw the 5600X for $280. 5800X at $400 $370 which is the lowest I've seen.

The Rocket Lake i5-11600K also dropped in price to $230 $220:

You'll also save $20 when you buy a compatible motherboard with the processor.
What are you talking about? It's way cheaper than scalper ebay.. It's also cheaper than MSRP.
First, amazing that they are in stock to begin with, and then to have them actually discounted over the regular price? That's a great deal!

technically the 5600x performs better, but by a small margin (practically negligible at 1440p). where the 5600x really shines is power efficiency (65w vs 125w+):

exactly why i bought it... great performance, and i prefer the low power chips. no need for anything higher - for me anyway.

If you have a multi-threaded workload, the 5950x is really the low power MVP. The AM4 socket can only supply about 144w max by design, which means each core is using about 9w of power when fully loaded. Typically you can get 3.9-4.0Ghz under 100% load on all cores. It can do about 180% of the work of a 5800x using the same amount of power, which is amazingly impressive.

Dang the r5 3600 at the $160 price, along with the basic pny 2060 i got at bestbuy for $280 seem like a great deal now. The 5600 is only marginally faster than the 3600, but its price is through the roof, as is obviously the gpu market. i feel like there has been no value increase in at least 2 years now

5600x is not marginal improvement.

It is. 5950x is a binned chip. It consumes less power than 5900x

From a quick look up the 3600 versus 5600X is about 5 to 10% in games, And that's with a 3080 GPU. The difference is going to be marginal at best with a 2060.

Man, Intel can't give away their new chips. Nice price on the 5600X - I'd be all over it if I had a MC near to me.
The problem is that you have to step over the GFX card campers 😂

Seemingly nice prices except when you consider how little of a performance increase these CPUs have over CPUs from 2+ years ago. There was a time when after 2 years, performance was doubled over the older technology. We need some innovation

The ssd has minimized the need to keep upgrading cpus

I know AMD has been king for a while, but computer prices is way too crazy, and i'm looking to upgrade from an almost decade old rig, so i assume anything would be an upgrade (coming from a 4770k)

for a price performance stand point, would the 5600x be better or, i also see from microcenter , the i5-11400k for 170?

while i'm at it, any good ITX mobo recommendation to go with either build? https://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...lies/smile.gif thanks!
You literally could not have picked a worse time to build a pc. You're better off looking for a prebuilt, and even those are being marked up.
