I have had decent success with Walmart Brickseek deals in the past if there were 2-3 available. Now, it seems that Walmart is changing its reporting system (as mentioned on Brickseek website as well). I was at my local Walmart last night and they had 3 Netgear CM500 modems on display for $45 each. This morning, the price dropped down to $13.5, still showing 2-3 available. I went there in evening, very sure I will be able to get 1. Not only were they not present, their price display sign had also been removed. Chatted with 2 different employees and was told that they got sent back to Walmart this morning as they are changing how they deal with clearance items.

I was able to get two of the 2-pack Tp-Link Mesh w3600. I already have the 3 pack m9+ from Costco. Anybody care to share their thoughts on which system would be better?

Finally found an item that Brickseek said that the Walmart by me had for the price quoted here. Thanks.

Well this unicorn ended up being 8 Netgear AX1800 and 4 of the TP Link W3600's for me. They are being donated to the Don Bosco Education foundation in Mexico.

Yep. I got the Soundcore by Anker Wakey and a Linksys AX1500 for about $50 total. Good on you for the donation my man! I just needed to replace my router from 2009 🤣

Depends on your priorities.

W3600 is just dual band. Not a big deal if you can use wired back haul. AX for back haul should help some compared to AC dual band, but not as good as a dedicated channel. Also, assuming you got the ~$40 sale rate that's a great price.

M9+ has zigbee and tri-band, dedicated back haul if meshing fully wirelessy. But "only AC."

Cost above else, w3600. It also has more future-proof for WiFi 6 devices.
If the zigbee feature is good for you, that's a cool value-add for the M9+.

Personally I'd do the w3600, I can wire them and I already have a zigbee (SmartThings) network including repeater switches, so the M9+ benefits don't do much for me.

Look at some towns like 30-40 min away from you on the Walmart app and Brickseek plugging random zip codes. Brickseek was spot on for this TP link deal. I bought two and left 1 for someone else. Multiple of the netgear and other routers too. Lots of smart home stuff too. The 40 min drive was worth it for me to explore a new town and scenery alone. Also since the Walmart was in a rural town, stock and clearance tags were accurate! Employees were willing to help and the manager was joking with me "thank you for helping get rid of our clearance" at the register. A complete 360 from normal Brickseek deals I usually try and find near my house in the city. I really wanted this router and glad I was able to score 2.

While not $13, Brickseek was accurate for me. Got the CM500 for $21 at the location it said had them for $21. I stopped at two other Walmarts to see what they had - and BS was accurate as well. YMWV.

Scored Linksys AC4000 one about $50, but no clue how good are they. I currently use Nighthawk AC3000. Worth upgrading?

Thanks for the heads up…what exactly is changing how Walmart handles clearance? Are the BS "retail arbitrage" days over? If so a lot of reseller just got disappointed.

Will any of these router/modem combos work with Fios?
